Supposedly, according to someone who claimed to be a locomotive engineer (I did not verify if that was their occupation but I'm assuming they weren't lying), a train like the one the Polar Express is modeled after could stay atop ice if it was thick enough. So the scene on the froze lake isn't entirely ridiculous.

This movie is my comfort movie. Don't matter what time of year it is, if I'm depressed I'm gonna watch this movie. This movie came out when I was in 4th grade. The class took a trip to see it in theaters in 3D. I remember us all so excited. We tried catching the ticket when it was blowing away. We all gasped when we saw Santa. This was also the last Christmas before I stopped believing in Santa and the last year I had that 100% pure childhood magic. So when I watch this movie its like my heart gets filled with that magic all over again. Despite it being July XD

This was the last movie I watched in a theater with my parents. An animator didn't have to create all the details of that locomotive, with a few changes, it is exactly like the actual Pere Marquette locomotive that was displayed for years in East Lansing, Michigan, near the Michigan State university football stadium. A young man who stopped to look at the locomotive, numbered 1225, when his father took him to MSU games, later, inspired by the locomotive number, wrote the book that was the basis for this movie. The real 1225 was restored to operation years ago and operate year round, but between Thanksgiving and Christmas pulls "The North Pole Express" and children and their families relive scenes from the movie, recreated by actors on the train.

I thank them so much for that. One year all I wanted was a bell from Santa, so they made all my gifts bell themed or decorated with bells. And they gave me a silver bell that matched the one in this movie and added a snowman top to it. This movie was everything to me.

HI ANGELINA!!!!! The main problem that some people have with the c.g.i. is actually the different numbers of passenger coaches that Engine 1225 is pulling, because at first there are 5 coaches when 1225 arrives at the house. But when it runs through the forest with the wolves then there are 15 coaches!! But where did the extra 10 coaches come from?? Then later they disappeared again!! But when 1225 was skidding on the icy lake there were only 4 coaches!! Thus an extra coach DISAPPEARED!! YET....When 1225 runs through the city streets at the North Pole it changes back and forth from 9 coaches back to five for when 1225 moves slowly around the Gigantic Christmas Tree 🎄 that is situated EXACTLY at the 0° Latitude North thus ALL Directions are South from there!! Thus the P.X. Should have a consist of 5 coaches and listed in reverse from the back is the 5th car is the OBSERVATION LOUNGE with the rearward ending viewing platform and filled with the comfortable Lounge 💺 chairs. The 4th car is for the Children to sit in. The 3rd car interior isn't seen but might be the kitchen car were the delicious Hot Chocolate is made in the big brass kettle. But the 2nd coach is probably the crew car for the cooks and Dancing Waiters. Now the 1st coach is the TOY CAR where the young girl and boy see the broken and forgotten toys. But when the boy is scared of the Scrooge marionette by the HOBO the boy runs out the door 🚪 🤔 AND IS INSTANTLY MAGICALLY TELEPORTED right past the 2 crew cars and directly into the coach with the other kids. Of course pulling this Magic Train is Steam Locomotive 1225 2-8-4 Berkshire class N-1 but based upon the REAL PERE MARQUETTE RR. 1225 built in 1941 in Lima Ohio as a group of 30 brand new larger steamers that were much more powerful and faster than the nearly 20 year old steamers built around 1918 during WW1. BUT 1225 AND HER POWERFUL SISTERS pulled the supply trains for WW2 and ran between Detroit and Chicago and with Thousands of steamers and electrics and diesels that pulled Billions of Tons of freight and carried Millions of Soldiers to fight the vile enemies of WW2 and that helped the U.S.A. and the Allies around the world 🌎 achieve Victory ✌ and Peace ✌!!!!! GOD BLESS THE U.S.A 🇺🇸 🙌!!!!! IN THE HOLY NAME OF JESUS CHRIST 🙏 🙌 ❤!!!!! AND THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT 🙏!!!!! UNITED AS THE 1 TRUE GOD OF THE TRINITY!!!!! ALLELUIA!!!!! AMEN 🙏!!!!! And the True and Real 1225 was saved from the old junkyard in the 1950s to become a unique display and historical monument at the East Lansing College. Then in the 1970s some college students started a club to rebuild this old rusty engine so that it could run again for pulling football train excursions to other cities . But progress was slow because the students, and retired Railroad Men could only work on weekends fir nearly 15 years. Then miraculously they found the old Roundhouse and repair shop was still in Owosso, Michigan. Then 1225 was pulled by a diesel engine into this repair shop with the heavy duty machines like lathes to repair the axles and wheels. At last 1225 was completed and running back and forth for medium excursions. And historic photographic charters and special events . Then Hollywoid called for information about steamers for the new c.g.i. movie that pioneered the use of c.g.i. for special effects. And for the past 20 years the new cgi movies are now better with even more details. And Locomotive 🚂 ❤ 😍 1225 is Still making millions of people happy, both young and old, all around the World 🌎 😀!!!!! GOD BLESS EVERYBODY WITH HAPPINESS FOREVER 😊 🙂 ☺ 😃 🙏!!!!!
