I got the original Lindberg model for Christmas in 1957, when I was 7. The saucer was cast in gray. In the kit, the alien pilot was cast in a light green, and each engine had an exhaust flame made out of transparent red fluorescent plastic, about an inch or so long, which had a socket that fitted over the rear "rod" at the back of each engine. None of the recasts have this feature.

I must say....I was blown away at the results of that paint. This will be my new go-to paint when painting Air Force jet/planes, etc. No Hogwarts spells needed to make this stuff shine!! If I can make it work, anyone can!! Thanks!!

And I like that you encourage others to put their own twist on it if they want, but at the same time, you also explain how u did your particular kit. There are a handful of modelers out there who pick apart some people builds, ( me for one, so I pulled all my builds) by pointing out what they screwed up or just an overall negativity in general. How long did it take for the Rustoleum chrome paint to cure so you could handle it? That’s a scary proposition because I’ve ruined silver coatings because of their lack of durability! And of course my constant handling of the subject doesn’t help. Oh yeah, and I agree about the clear coats! No matter how glossy the clear coat is, it’s not as shiny as the base coat itself! Is that rattle can paint that durable?
@hpiguy5 жыл бұрын
I let it dry a day, it stayed softer than average color coats so it took longer. I can handle it now without issues. I have no idea how durable it is because I don't play with my kits, but for display and assembly it's been fine. Just used it on another review coming up this weekend and weathered over it with no ill effects.

Kinda funny that the aliens in the pictures of the movie don't look at all like the alien in the kit. lol. It's actually a nice kit. I was surprised of the finish that that chrome paint give. Seems even better than Alcad. And yeah, for a cheap paint company, it's pretty awesome. I mean, here in Canada, they're sold around the 6$ mark, while car paint and model kit paint sell 'round the 10$ mark. I'm about to try this paint company on a car I'm gonna make. And since I'm finding the color to my liking albeit a little too pale, I wanna try your black primer trick. Hopefully, it'll give me the color I seek.
