My daughter and son in law just bought a electric fireplace and I love it and I have noticed when it is on my 5 and 7 year old grandsons seem to calm down. I am thinking they may get mesmerized by the faux flame even has light inside 😊

Now that I've seen the coffee supply in Svarlbard, I feel I would survive. I think Cecelia you might be doing much of the world a great service by showing how beautiful darkness and winter can be. I've resolved this year to write down each day something about winter that was lovely. It will not be easy. I noticed how much of the leaves are gone now after reaching peak color and that made me sad. But wait, now I can see deep into the woods! Ok, first thing to write. Hi Cecilia...we watched your vids to prepare for our trip 10/18-10/24. Perfect! Great time in LYB. Went out into the fjord on the Berg 10/21 and saw the Northern Lights, Taurid meteor shower and Milky Way. The water was rough! 3 meter swells. Ice on deck. Unforgettable experience for two California ladies. Went to the Svalbard museum, stayed at Radisson Blu Polar, pet the dogs and had tea at Huskies Cafe and shopped for cold medicine at the pharmacy in Lompen Senteret. We had reindeer stew and arctic cod and yum. There is a dessert at Nansen called the Old Fashioned...it's full of booze and we loved it. We had to see the hospital because, well, we are retired nurses. Svalbard is everything you've said and more. This was my first international trip, a bucket list item. Thank you for helping us to prepare and inspiring us to come, all the way from California, USA. Love to you both + Grim

We stepped inside and I believe they were involved in some kind of rescue/transport at the time, so we didn't impose, but it is the kind of hospital, I've read, that you call and tell them you're coming and they staff accordingly. Not a full-service hospital. My guess is they were transporting a patient to the mainland, since they have said they have no setup for serious illness/trauma. (According to some student vloggers I've watched.) But yes, it struck my curiosity

It's not all hardwood floors, just that one corner of the cabin. I'm actually curious if maybe the wiring or vents run under there? For some reason that section is scary and dogs do have better hearing than we do.
