Polar V650 Route Navigation

So it doesn't keep the map oriented all the time? I also didn't see an indication that we were off route - you kind of have to be watching the map. I originally avoided the polar as at the time it didn't have turn by turn navigation. It's good to see them improving it to give us more viable options. I'll be getting a Wahoo Elemnt on monday. Hoping that will do the trick!

I'm looking into different systems for navigation on my mtb. I'm comparing the Polar V650 with the Wahoo Elemnt Bolt, besides the price what are the main differences between these two?

This is no smart navigation, no turn by turn and you can not put in some new routes without a smartphone or PC in place. I have this thing; not very impressed. How is it possible to invert a route an drive back ? Good thing is its accu time; but how to replace them ???

I bought the polar V650 recently and do not have detailed map on route navigation like displayed in this clip??? I only have a blank screen with a line drawn indicating the route...no countdown to next turn OR map street detail as per video??

It sounds like you haven't downloaded a detailed map area to your v650. You need to make sure your v650 is updated to the latest firmware first. Then go into settings, general settings, maps and then offline map area. Within 'offline map area' you can select the area you wish to cover (this is a box 450km x 450km) you then select the update option. If I recall correctly you finally pair your v650 with the FlowSync app from which it will automatically upload the updated detailed map area. Within the map settings you also need to select the type of map layer you want to use - my video showed topographic. Hope the above helps its been a couple of months since i put the maps on my 650 but thats what I recall.

Tnx for reply! Problem is that I managed to sync my V650 the first time...and then that was that. From there it would not sync. On google it is clear that this is a common problem with the unit. The unit itself is super , but Polar's software is extremely problematic. Gonna toss my unit in the dustbin, spend the money and get a Garmin

@@zubairmahomedy9177 my method to deal with syncing with my android phone is to 1) open the app, let it sync and when finished 2) put phone into flight mode from notification bar, swipe up, tap on activity between day and "Active time" 3) select sync to mobile on V650 and turn on Bluetooth on phone from notification bar 4) when it starts syncing swipe down the notification bar and turn of flight mode... Sometimes if switching bike setups etc - turn off and on both unit and phone.. It currently works 97% first time this way - Maybe that helps.

Yeah, that's pretty useless functionality for a device almost solely dedicated GPS use. Everything else recalculates routes.
