Polaris 300 bad starter diagnose/replace

To get to the lower bolt on the recoil cover that is less accessible, simply disconnect the back side of the arm to the foot brake that will allow the foot brake to fall down and out of the way to access the hole in the frame designed to access that lower bolt in the recoil cover. Mine is a 1996 model, where this worked. Great video. Helped me mucho.

wow...I have a 1997 Polaris 300 for our small farm...starter went bad...I bought a new starter drive unit, had to do EXACTLY what you did...drilled a hole like you did as well. My repair lasted about 2 years. My Gas Shut-Off began leaking over the years and allowed gas to puddle up inside starter...bad deal....it was corroded bad when I took it out. That gas destroyed and pitted everything. I am going to buy a complete new starter and do it again. I started leaving the drain plugs out beneath starter and I spray cleaner up there a few times a year. My machine still runs very well and is in good shape...so I will go through the pain again. Oh yeah...first time took me 9 hours start to finish with all the parts that have to come off and put back etc.

There is a much easier way to get the secondary clutch out. Put the bike in gear (high) and put the handbrake on. Then try taking it off. 1 man job

What size is the ball head

3/4" -16 fine thread shaft when looking at threaded rod or ball hitches.

These bikes hate water , it gets in through the cheap plastic side covers..they are sweet made in japan motors though..as long as they stay dry..
