Great finds! These are the sleds that were around in my 20’s so I remember the triple/triple wars fondly. I’ll be picking something up in the spring as a base for an RXL conversion I want to do. Love the channel.
@toddclyne34936 жыл бұрын
Yes I was also in my twenties and would have loved to own a new one. I could only afford an XLT. XLT was still a very fun sled. We went on to racing one cross country and dominated the 580 class. Great driver and mechanics kept us in first almost every race.

They still made steel cylinders in 95, but the steel cylinders were stock. the nikasil cylinders were offered as a kit from Polaris. the nikasil cylinders cannot be bored, but they make the engines much more dependable.

The black one has SLP Ultra Lite skis. I had a set of those on my 1990 Indy and miss them. They were great skis. I've never synced 3 carbs, and that's probably the biggest reason why I've always shied away from the Polaris triples.

Only storm I road was a PSI 1300 cc . Only ever was able to get to 134 mph in 1000 feet due to how freaking heavy that sled is. Things a absolute tank and with the stock motors where so slow. Polaris got their asses handed to them back in the day until the Ultra 680 came out. But I gotta say the polaris triples where the best sounding machines period.

Been couple years but hope you got a good ride in. Can use a needle grease gun and give a shot of grease to secondary and chaincase shaft bearings, you'll be glad you did. Always check compression wide open. If you have under 110 it's tired, under 100 and it might not even start when it gets warm.
