Looking forward to your tear down Streeter, should be interesting. Some new seals, and get the crank specked out along with new bearings you should have a runner.

I’m very confident on the condition of the top end. I used a boroscope and I can see the reflection of the pistons in the cylinder walls and the heads look spotless. I’ll find out for sure this weekend.

Hopefully there are no top end problems when you open it up. That will save you some money.New crank will cost a few bucks.

Yes. Probably around $350 for a crank. Still looking at options. Top end looks really good. I can see the reflection of the pistons in the cylinder walls.

@@StreetersGarage Maybe another option is a different engine. The problem is those sleds would go and go if looked after so it might be hard to find a good one that's not all worn out.Sometimes new is the way to go.

That’s also an option. The challenge has been that any decent donor sled that I could pull from in my area is in better condition than the project and doesn’t make sense to sacrifice it. Right now I have a contact that has new Polaris cranks in the box for $350. I’ll probably go that route once I do the tear down on Friday and see the rest of the condition.

Any tips on pulling the motor? I can’t fit anything on the backside nut on the front motor mount bolts.

Yes it’s a tight fit. I was able to use an offset box wrench to hold it.

Is it usual to have oil ‘leak’ under the three pipes from the motor? I see the motor on this also have oil on the same place. Is it coming from the exhaust or engine? 😥

seepage is normal. It's a result of leaking gaskets.
