Great review! How much do you miss your rzr when you are out riding this thing on the trails? Does it do well enough not to bother you that much and make you wish you had your rzr?
@maraudermitchelli
@maraudermitchelli 2 жыл бұрын
JT it's too different riding experience. I've had the Defender on the trail, but not yet the Ranger. With a UTV it's more about being with wife on the trail. The RZR Pro is just a monster fast, killer ride and conquers all. The RZR trail is just plane fun and following the ATV's...it's more driver work but it's a great experience. I'm thinking I don't need the RZR pro...it seems wasteful to have so many machines for one person. Stay safe and thank you

Thank you for the great informative review, I really want one of these but like you think the interior is too small. I wish the seating position and leg room was like the RZR's, my legs are too cramp up especially the left one when seated so I'm hoping on the next redesign that the cab gets larger. Another suggestion for you if I may, build yourself a dedicated shop with an automotive lift to make life so much more pleasant when working on the equipment. When I retired I had a shop built ( heat and ac) and it was one of the best things I've done. Servicing the machines and other equipment is so so much easier and pleasant to perform, no more crawling around on the floor. Take care...

J thank you. I have plans for a detached garage. In my neighborhood I can't build a pole barn structure i have to build a garage similar to my house...thus it's like building a 1,500sf house and it's very expensive. We'll see if i price the garage lumber is extremely expensive right now. Not sure if an expensive garage makes sense as an investment but we'll see. Hello very nice video, It looks like that ranger has a tighter turning angle on front tire. Could you do a demo video on turning radius. I pull a 12' wide harrow tooth drag to maintain my 350' driveway. I'm wondering if a 2022 ranger could turn around at end of my driveway , as I drive onto county gravel road to do a circle and then back on driveway. Also what size/width plow is best used for pushing snow on this machine? Considering multiple use's for it. Thank you for any input. Envious in Moorhead, Mn

@maraudermitchelli 2 жыл бұрын
Mark i tried to do a couple circles on my Snow Play video. My driveway is 20 feet wide it won't turn completely on my driveway. There are some great plows available for the Ranger but I'm far from an expert on them as i snow blow with my tractor. I'd search KZbin for Ranger plow videos, I think you'll be impressed. I think it may have the smallest turning radius of the cab utv's. Stay safe

I canceled my order on my trail boss ordered it last September. Now they say next year because of chip shortage. I got lucky though I found a 2022 defender limited max in California that was not allocated for anyone. They delivered it to me and everything. I really like it, I am a can am guy but wanted to give Polaris a chance but I am not waiting a year and a half. My defender will be good, only thing the ranger has on the defender is the ride command. All they can make are models without the ride command and most people won’t buy those models . I feel like it’s going to get worse when it warms up when people think they can walk in and buy a machine and that will drive prices higher. My defender with wheels, tires, street legal was less out the door than my trail boss would of been. Good video though I like the ranger I just will not have a chance to drive one.

Do any other Rangers other than the XD1500 come with downhill engine braking like your TRAIL BOSS? The 2025s have a new transmission and power steering that has positive reviews but the 2024 Trail Boss is the only model that checks all the boxes for me (and is discounted right now). Let me know what you think. Thanks!

On my property downhill braking isn’t a big issue….i think you’re right my Ranger does. If you don’t have downhill braking you can add a little throttle enough to engage the cvt and it willl engine brake…I’ve had many cvt transmission and that’s what I did. Ride safe let me know what you bought 🙂

@@maraudermitchelli LOL, I live in Montana and I have employees who use sxs for work in New York and surrounding states. I love my Ranger. I added a Gilomen tune and clutch kit right away. I also put 2" wheel spacers and a 2" lift. (It is top heavy when you side hill) It runs 83 mph top speed according to the GPS on the Ride Command. I drag raced a new defender with no cab, no doors, no top and beat him by 4 lengths. My Northstar had to be several hundred pounds heavier. I love it but my tires are more than half gone in the front and I plan on going to 30" K9 tires.

@@donstaggs3827 Love it Don, good for you. Polaris's can have suspension bushing issues and my dealer has seen worn out front diffs on Rangers. Polaris on some model ATV says they've gone to automotive type bushings, and also state they keep making their diffs 20-30 percent stronger. I hope we have the stronger Diffs. If your new to my channel I've owned 5 utv's and 5 SXS's...this is my 3rd Ranger the most expensive as you know but no doubt the nicest. You can't register a SXS or ATV over 1000lbs in New York state. I've heard there's agency in Montana if you register in their state as an LLC, SXS can then be registered as the same category as the Polaris Slingshot. If you watch Andrew Camarata's channel which I recommend, he did this. Some of us are still Leary that Police in our area would still pull you over and hassle you. I think the Montana LLC and reg would cost about $750, plusDOT tires and full lights and horns are needed. In very rural farm areas of New York police may look the other way as they could have farm triangles marking their SXS's. I was a reserve LT deputy Sheriff in our county and have my commercial Class A license...I'm somewhat knowledgeable. In New York our ATV's and Snowmobiles are registered, sxs's over 1000lbs are not. I've also written state legislatures asking them to change the law. In western New York I've never seen a SXS on the street in Western New York. At a fund raiser in Watertown New York with thousands of SXS the Troopers looked the other way as I drove by them. There's a difference from driving on the road and doing it legally. Penalities are high in NY...and it's a big lawsuit state. I really like your engine mod, and tire size selection. Please keep me updated on your machine, I'm very interested. Thank you Be safe

Cory respectfully I disagree that it is way better. I’ve had 3 Rangers and 2 defenders. I liked my xmr but my limited defender with a cab ran on one cylinder for most of the the time I’ve owned. Can Am did not know why and kept telling my dealer I needed to run low octane gas as my ethanol free 90 octagon gas was stale. I owned 2 can Am Outlander 1000 that we running the same gas with no issues. If you own a Defender limited and a Ranger Northstar then that’s a fair comparison...I’ve owned them both new. I think the defender is a good machine...I expect to own mine more than2 years. I’m glad you like your defender...but it’s not way better they are 2 good machines that may have issues.

I’m surprised you prefer the Ranger tbh. Transmission is smoother on the defender, cab is quieter, seating is FAR more comfortable. The door fit and look is the only thing I think Polaris did better. We’ve raced them and the defender was a touch faster. Idk I just can’t come up with a reason to purchase a Ranger over a defender other than someone who is just a Polaris guy. 🤷‍♂️

Nathan I respectfully disagree with I don't think the defender's transmission is smoother, I think the Ranger is a little better and engages at a lower RPM. , The shift gate on the defender would drive me crazy if i had to plow with it. I also don't think the cab is quieter on the Defender...I believe Ranger and Defender are pretty equal Cab noise. I had issues with my Defender engine, for much of the time it was hitting on one cylinder forward plug would get fowled. Per Can Am recommendation I pumped the fuel from the tank twice. I run 90 ethanol free fuel I believe this was a waste of time. Oil changes on the Defender take way to long which Can Am should correct on all their machines...just terrible. Also for the price it should come with a mirror, and stereo. My camo defender with the 32" tires was killer good looking...I upload old videos and I can't take my eyes off that machine. BTW the cab is much larger on the Defender, windshield is pushed further out from driver which I like. I'm glad you like your Defender you should it's a great machine. I'm changing the oil on the Ranger, we'll see how that goes...I may change my mind thank you for watching and commenting.

@@maraudermitchelli I agree with you 100% on the shifter for plowing snow. My defender just takes off like a car when I touch the gas. Every Polaris I’ve owned or drove has that hesitation maybe they’ve upgraded the transmission a little in the 22 model idk but the defender is as smooth as a car that I’m driving. I can’t comment on the oil change I just use the dealer. I’ve watched a lot of your videos on sXs. Honestly you’re probably the reason I tried Can am. I’ve always been a Polaris guy. Owned several rzrs and rangers. I can’t speak to the pre 22 defenders because this is my first one but my cab is noticeably quieter than my buddys northstar. It’s not even a discussion. Especially while cruising at speed over 25-30 mph. I just feel like I have so much more room in the defender. I feel cramped in a Ranger and I agree with you pats off that is just the windshield being close but regardless it’s a comfort thing. That sucks you engine was giving you trouble that unit was extremely good looking. How’s the ac in your North Star? I just went for a cruise here and it’s 93 stayed comfortably cool the entire time. Won’t freeze you out but you dang sure better off than rolling the windows down.
