Sam did you say in a comment, you no longer have a Slingshot? What made you wanna go away from it?

Coronado, I had two Slingshots over a 5 year period. I really enjoyed and so did Gail. We did everything from Group riding and travel. Also went to two Slingshots in the Smokies Events in Maggie Valley. Our age of 76 and endurance to be in the sun for hours made us realize we had reached the time to leave the high energy Slingshot and go to a closed environment, the 2020 Mini Cooper. I recommend a Slingshot as part of a persons life style experience for any age, you will know when it is time to change, but you will love it.

Thank you Larry Z! Gail and I had two Slingshots and enjoyed our Slingshot Experience. We had 5 years of the most fun we could have any other way. We have now moved on as we have reached the time we want to try Senior stuff more and enjoy our RV travel. All my video are on youtube and hope they will help you with your Candy Red 2018 SL model. Enjoy!

Sam this was great. I'm going to look for more of your videos as we have bought a used 2016 for a month ago and it takes at least 3 people to get the hood open. We took it to the dealer to have this repaired and they told us there is no adjustments on the hood but we could order some booster springs for it. We ordered these 3 weeks ago and haven't heard since from the dealer. We just went on a 12,000 mile trip so I had two of my friends help me get the hood open before we left. But we were shit outta luck on the road if we would of had to open it. A tip while on the trip the gas cap wasn't tightened enough and the gas cap came loose and passed me as I was on my motorcycle behind the car. We called both dealers in St Louis and neither had a cap. In desperation we went to Lowes hardware and found a 2 inch rubber cap that comes with a hose clamp on it in the plumbing dept that worked great for the next 1000 miles and cost $3.50 we had already ordered a new gas cap on Amazon at $42 it came in 4 days. The dealer told us it would be 2 weeks.

horshak1 I know the hood is a problem on the Slingshot. I have a lot of video about issue with the hood. Look for Playlist that have all Hood Video together. First, there are hood adjustments. The two front latches can be adjusted back and forth, front to back to align with hood latch pins. They are also use to align the latch pins to match up with the rear Latches. The rear latches do not have nay adjustments. I have a video that shows aligning all latches. Watch all the way through and get a understanding of how the adjustment is done. The cables also have an adjustment. I have a video that shows the latch test for release. One other magic to use is grease. It will overcome design issues of the latch and make things work better. Good Luck. Oh, I have a video on the Gas Cap, Velcro, take a look and never loose the gas cap.

About using Rain X. The traditional formula will degrade the windshield. They make a plastic version, while not as good it'd ok, but doesn't hard your plastics.

Great video, any suggested mods for the slingshade or other cover for rain coverage? Also to lock the cubby’s? What do you have in terms of security or killswitch?
@samowens445 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I don't have a top, so can not really give information about them. I do know from comments of owners that they do not protect you from the rain. They give you shade in a lot of the time you are driving. Some folks have said, when you stop in a rain, you may get a lot of rain to pour into your lap as it runs off the roof. As far as a kill switch, there would be a lot of areas that you could install a kill switch to shout down the motor. I just have not looked into that area.

actually shouldn’t drive it in the rain as it hydroplanes on smallest amount of water on the road, with single back tire that does not go in tracks of other vehicles making two tracks not three.RoseTwins 2by2

Sam Owens, American ingenuity at its best. Your midnight cherry Slingshot is fantastic. But, may I say, the steering wheel looks antiquated. I think you should upgrade it as you did all else.

Mickey Caro thanks for the comments. I am thinking about a nice looking one, that can be removed. It would add a good touch.

Awsome video I’m planning on getting a slingshot for my upcoming birthday September 19 I was wondering if I should pay for it cash or finance it what’s your feedback on that?
@samowens446 жыл бұрын
It all depends on the interest rate charged to finance it. If you can earn more with the money you would play cash than the interest paid. That is the way to look at it. If you can pay cash, that is the way to go to save the interest payments. Good luck and you are going to have fun. Come over to slingshotinfo.com and view my page sam owens Media and Info section.

Sam- appreciate your videos - but something came up on my first day of ownership, that I wish would have been covered. First morning of going to enjoy my ride, I spent 10 minutes of trying to program my navigation system before starting the Slingshot. Moral of the story is that it needs to be started, otherwise the battery runs down rather quickly . Needed to call the dealership to come in to tow away, recharge the battery and return it. Couple days in all....My stupidity but a good lesson... won't happen again. Had not seen that necessity covered in any video and thought it might be good to pass on to others. Be Well and wish you were here to get me out of my ignorance ... sure there is numerous problems to come- not close to being a mechanic and inventor like you appear.. Be Well.....
