I appreciate your honesty man. I swear - you, Muskoka Freerider, and the guys @ Boondock Nation are the only Doo owners who aren't disingenuous shit talkers. I would seriously consider getting a G5, but I can't bring myself to even LOOK like your typical Doo owner. They ALL build a great sled. The trash talking gets so damn old cuz it's the same shit from the same crowd every. damn. year.

Thanks a lot man I really appreciate that! I always hated the brand biased crap ever since I was a kid. If I ride something I'm always excited to share my thoughts on it and the Matryx was one very impressive Chassis and engine combo!

I totally agree! Through the years I’ve owned mostly Yamahas. I have a Skidoo buddy that I ride with. His buddies are so arrogant that they won’t let me ride with them. I think they are scared because they won’t be able to keep up me and my Winder 😂 (Just kidding). But I have been looking at Doos and Polaris for something different, but sadly to say,I don’t want to be associated with Doo “crowd”.

About a month ago I picked up a 21 assault 850. I've only had a chance to take it on 1 rip and man it's a blast. The last time I rode was 20 years ago on a 99 polaris xc 600. Snowmobiles have definitely changed in the last 2 decades

I've gone the opposite route, haha. I went from my Assault to the 23 Lynx Rave and I hear you about the engines...night and day. The first time I popped on the Lynx and gave a bit of throttle it almost threw me off the back, haha. As much as I loved my assault, and still do, this Lynx is a much more playful sled so far from my limited riding also because it's new to me. Great vids.

You nailed the clutching comment. I don't think people that don't swtich back and forth like you do get it. Usually I hear the Etec just feel like it pulls harder and it has more to do with the abrupt clutching down low because a lot of times teh 850 polaris will pull it on top. They are both great sleds with quality edging towards BRP. But for me the chassis on Poo is worth it.
@Revrider550
@Revrider550 Жыл бұрын
Yeah it was great to be able to ride them back to back. I always felt the brp clutching was more abrupt and jerky but being able to compare them on the same day really showed the difference. The Polaris was so easy to roll into the throttle with and take off at a comfortable pace where as the Lynx requires feathering of the throttle to try and compensate for the engagement. I was also suprised at the end (obviously not under ideal circumstances) the 850 Patriot to get the jump on me and stay there even in break in... was expecting to win or at least reel it in no problem.

@@Revrider550 I am in the process of building my 2018 SKS 155 into a midwest boondocking machine. I am converting to a 146 with a 2.OO" track, Ice age Khaos rails, 8" wheels, Already geared down with Raptor Khoas kit I will transfrer to rails, It has a 36" front end for effortless carving and sidehillling. Stay tuned for videos of the build. Because its already winter the tunnel cut wiill come in the spring. WE will cut it short for no snow hangiing up in the tunnel. This makes a huge difference in how the sled reacts in the powder.

@@gobigparts do a 2.5 or 2.25 you won’t like the 2 for boondocking. We get similar snow conditions here and Maine, I can say with 100% absolute honesty, the challenger extreme 2.5 is the exact track you want.

Completely untrue, the axys 800 HO was an extremely reliable engine, the 850 has proven to be pretty reliable lately. Literally every single sled has issues. Just because you read things on the internet doesn’t mean it’s true.

@@2010Greendayfan my opinion is not based on utube or reading. It come from 40 + years of riding. As my statement highlights,, I'm not hating on Polaris, I give credit where it's do. They make some great sleds, but I've seen over and over the 800's cook down fairly fast. There are kits on the market to help with that. There wouldn't be a market for them if there wasn't a need.

@Revrider550
@Revrider550 Жыл бұрын
I like the Lynx for rear suspension compliance, I think it handles pretty much all bumps a bit better than the IGX in the Assault does. Both are pretty much equally playful. I like the ergos in the Matryx better and it corners a lot flatter and is easier to ride (IMO) on twisty trails. Also the Assault with the 850 patriot feels a lot lighter than the Lynx. So if I was going for a big bump crossover I'd go Lynx. But for where I ride I think the Assault fits our average day a bit better. But both are honestly great thats just splitting hairs for comparisons sake. Congrats on the Boost!! After riding the Assault 850 im beyond stoked to get mine!

@@Revrider550 Having had a 21 Matryx Assault 850 and now a 23 Lynx XTerrain the difference in suspension compliance is astounding. For a guy with a riding weight of around 185 the Assault simply lacked any trail chatter compliance even when everything was set at full soft. In that regard my 2017 Assault rides substantially better. The XTerrain on the other hand is so adjustable and so compliant that it makes rough trail and ditch banging much more fun. The XTerrain is also substantially more playful than the Assault which stays way too flat for me. But I don't mind working around corners where I know a lot of people don't like that. Spot on with the abrupt low speed clutching on the BRP 850's but when at speed the BRP clutching response and backshift is better IMO. Just one guys opinion.

@@Revrider550 I had similar sleds to you in the past. '18 Assault, Lynx Rave last year and back on an Matryx Assault this year. what you experience is spot on. Equally playful, but the Assault is hands down way easier to drive on the trail. It's not even close when pushing hard. One thing I changed on this Assault from day 1 is I had the dealer put on the light torsion springs based on a lot of guys experience on HCS. It makes a world of difference and something I recommend for better rear compliance.
