This is the best Polaris action I’ve seen yet, super awesome emergent gameplay and 10/10 sci-fi visuals. I would love to see y’all arrange a boarding party once the enemy capital ship’s engines are down sometime in the future, a dead Polaris would be an awesome battleground.

I suppose capital ships in the future will probably involve a first round of heavy fighters / bombers to take care of PDS followed by the big missiles to finish things off once a shield is down .

@@Foxintox so from what we have seen so far, you can overwhelm the pds with spam. Launch a lot and they can't handle it. Fighters is def key, not to mention way more fun imo!

If I had to guess you have to shoot alot of missiles to over whelm the gun defense. As then send torps or send torps first then missiles sense the torps are slow. But I do feel you can overwhelm the gun defense. The firebird would be a a perfect ship to bring

I wonder if you can target lock and shoot the small missiles to overwhelm the Point defense and have the torps come in behind those to hit it. Do the torps and missiles travel at same speeds?

The PDCs have been tested to intercept full torp salvos from multiple Polaris reliably. Unless they significantly nerfed that torps arent a threat to PDC equipped ships.

Always wondered how capital ship battles would be balanced and be like in SC. This gives a small taste. Much like in real life, seems key is to overwhelm ship defenses...and, to have ship defenses in the first place (i.e. fully manned turret gunners!). I also wonder how easy it will be to dodge/evade and ECM jam incoming torps. Now...good luck evading Railgun on Size 12 Turret shots :D

Nice video but I cant help but notice you;re trying to use the ship like a fighter. Its the main reason you werent able to use your torps most the fight is becasue you kept trying to close the gap and chace down the other ship, this ships strength lies in long range combat. You could have let him run just a bit to where you could fire on him like you did evenually at the end which is what allowed you to land big torp damage at the end.

There was 2 Polaris vs 1 on another guys channel. And they enemy 2 Polaris also had a mantis. Did a mention both Polaris was fully crewed? Yeah and the guy made it out alive at the end. Fought off 2 capital ships 😂

The Polaris looks cool from the outside, but in reality its just meh tbf. Its an perfect example on why CIG fails at everything they try to do halfway properly.

Yeah, interior layout is not great, too many doors leading to the bridge, main elevator is too slow, the buttons on the ship are poorly designed, for example the power off button on the pilot/copilot seat is right below the switch right MFD meaning you turn off the ship entirely if you're not careful, captain's chair is completely useless, the cargo bay sadly can only welcome the same vehicles as most other ships (basically ursa only, at best you can fit a storm but no ballista, spartan or anything bigger, same vehicle cargo as every other ship) so it's pretty disappointing, there are only 2 cells in the brig which is pretty stupid, and the performance itself is very mid, the ship has way too little power, meaning the capacitors on the turrets can only fire for very little time, a lot of times the power to your radar will randomly turn off without you knowing, additionnally the firepower is nothing amazing, the torps work great and are pretty balanced but the turrets specifically the s6 turret could use a serious buff, the bespoke ballistic on the turret that you're not supposed to be able to change is trash and the worst s6 weapon by very far (it took me 5-6 direct hits to kill an npc mustang, this is awful). For a ship that will require engineering, heavy and expensive maintenance (it currently does, the repair and restock costs are ludicrously high already) nothing would ever make me want to take this over most other multicrew ships and certainly wouldn't make me and my org want to abandon our single seat fighters which dominate. Not to mention the countless bugs like for example the missing turret pips, the bugged ship health status UI or the inability to retrieve at any space station that doesn't have a XL hangar and uses docking (the ship clips into the station and you can't use it) Overall it's a bit of a letdown, I knew it was going to be a reality check and really not be great for pvp but I thought it would at least be excellent against other multicrew ship and be a force to be reckoned with in pve, but so far it's really not, it's a crew intensive and pretty ineffective ship, there's still hope CIG balances it but seeing as though they failed/ignored balance of every single multicrew ship because they're utterly ignorant of how their own game actually plays I don't have much hope. besides it'll get the same "you don't understand : X mechanic/feature will potentially come in the next 5-10 years if they don't scrap it, so they have to balance it around that, it's perfectly fine if they balance it around that right now and never even attempt to change a few variables to at least give it a temporary fix" cope so there's really no point in complaining
