If I'm remembering correctly, Ice Cream was established as a 5.14c (and there were some rumblings about the grade). It was put up at a time when 5.14d did not exist in America. Considering it has not had any repeats, it's very cool to see it get done and upgraded. Boone Speed - Legend!

Why was this called "Polarize"? Fun watch but did I miss something?
@pierremilot81178 ай бұрын
Po"lar"ize is referencing lar or lares in roman mythology. These are "guardian deities" in ancient roman religion, believed to protect their domains. Many categorize them as household deities but their domains could actually encompass broader areas like roadways, seaways, or even states. According to wikipedia "The little mythography that belongs to the Lares seems inventive and poetic. With no traditional, systematic theology to limit their development, Lares became a single but usefully nebulous type, with many functions". Lar also references LAR in legal speak means “legally authorized representative” which is someone who is authorized under law to make determinations on behalf of or as a spokesperson of another individual. Polarize is defined in the video. If you did not catch that it is to “divide or cause to divide into two sharply contrasting groups or sets of opinions or beliefs” In the caption of the video it states “We are judged by the company we keep…” Chris Crosser presents a video containing Ben Hanna and himself lead climbing. Ben Hanna is a person known in the climbing American climbing community, he also paints their nails and changes/colors his hair in many styles generally seen as going against the norm. Chris himself is a white South African competition climber who qualified and competed at the 2020 Olympics. Bright hair and nails can be seen as polarizing in some parts of America and the world, and while Chris is not outwardly polarizing perhaps the contrast between someone who has brightly colored hair who flips off the camera while bleeding and someone who is an Olympian (people generally seen as strict because they have to sacrifice and stay the course) could be his purpose (or he may be rambunctious if you knew him, though this would be stupid because it is not shown in the video). Lead climbing is uncommon on the mellow channel. This alone can be seen as unusual or polarizing. But the legal LAR reference is connected with the lead climbing because of the ICE SCREAM send, where he repeated a climb that had not been repeated in nearly two decades. He also upgraded this climb from 14c to 14d. At the time of the first ascent being graded 14d would have made it the first 14d in America (potentially polarizing). So as a LAR, he acted to make the choice of the upgrade. In conclusion, I believe they are gay or homosexual perhaps.
