How do bees find their way between their hive and the patches of resources they exploit? They use polarized light. What is polarized light and how can it be used as a navigation aid? Here's how.

Wonderful video explaining well the concept of naviation by poliarzation. May I ask one question? how accurate can bees get the position of the sun? from the two area (where no leaves blocking the light) with strong and weak polarization light, bees can know which direction, but it seems the location of the two area (where no leaves blocking the light) can also affect the judgement of bees?

Bees can also convey distance cues through the waggle dance. Both heading and direction gets the hive mates there. Remarkable is that there must be some timekeeping capability as well, since the sun's location shifts. Or maybe not: there is some error in recruited bees finding the resource.
