Excellent review. I own all three cameras as well and agree with your assessments. Mint deserves considerable credit however, for continuously updated the classic SX-70; the MING is close to perfection! But as you say, the I-2 is probably best for most individuals new to instant photography. Keep these videos coming.

Yeah for a pro it’s a toss up between the new MiNT and the i2- I have owned like 5 cameras from MiNT and this one is my favorite- doing an article on how each of these meters work and will post that next

So why can’t the Mint camera actually shoot at 1/2000? It seems strange to have those markings and actually only attain 1/250?

There is no way that mirror as large as it is could possibly move fast enough without destroying itself- rather anything over 1/250 the Time Machine does stop the lens down to give you an equivalent exposure of 1/2000

Ive shot the I2 and a modified mint slr sx70 sonar, and my tan unmodified non serviced sx70. To be honest I hated the I2 as well as the modern i type cameras, I cant stand them, all my images with them were horrible and blurry and just really poor quality. The sonar modified sx70 was super cool, wasnt mine but a friend of mine who I encouraged him to purchase as he was also displeased with the I2 and it became his main camera. Great quality and super sharp image,.The I2 on the otherhand, never worked right. Constantly missed exposure and had signifigant roller issues right out of the box, constantly jammed, and the lense wasnt particurally sharp. Id recomend personally the sx70, great manuel control, superb build quality. And reasonable servicing pricing. Compared to the I2 which my friend junked after switching to his sonar sx70 😆

I’ve had good luck with my i2 but I’ve heard mixed reviews from others. I actually use all of them plus the new series I have posted on my first SX70 alpha I purchased over 34+ years ago and the rebuild that was done my Dennis at Chromatic.parts-- I think this is my favorite version to date and the images just look great and has huge flexibility- here is a link to the first of three videos so far- kzbin.info/www/bejne/borWZKdjf8eMoNUsi=O34TecQgK5PGNKFh
