This is my favorite Japanese song, definitely. Even my Japanese isn’t that good at all. He brings me to tears every time I hear it. That’s his SOUL coming out of this song.
I am happy to know that there are people outside of Japan who understand the beauty of this song. When I was a teenager, I had a very good friend named Hideo. Although he was usually mild-mannered, he was the kind of friend who would get really angry with me if I did something wrong. I wanted to be best friends with him for the rest of my life, but in the spring of my 17th year, he suffered alone and ended his short life by jumping off an apartment building. It was the most painful and sad thing I've ever experienced. I really hated myself for not being able to save my best friend at that time. But no matter how much I regretted it, he would never come back. One day, when I was growing up with these feelings, I came across Koji Tamaki's "Melody". The song drew me in and made me cry. For years, I just listened to this song and cried, but one day, I changed my mind and decided to sing it myself at karaoke. At first I couldn't sing it well because I was crying, but now I sing it well for him who was my best friend. I remember Hideo's kindness. So, for me, this song is a requiem for my best friend. Thank you very, very much for liking this song.
I’m glad you’re diving deeper into the Japanese music scene. It’s like finding a treasure trove. 😊

hi. I'm lonly japanese in korea. I love your youtube channels. As you know, it's so difficult to go abroad in this pandemic. it's been about 2 years since I saw my family and friends in Japan last. I miss Japan so much, but your reactions help taking away my loneliness from me. good soft voice to listen in midnight.
Go for the whole versions! Your reactions are full of love and compassion that go beyond words or explanation. Awesome! Love is the only language we share on earth. xo
Damn dude this came out on the exact date I was born. September 16th 1996 what a cool birthday present to see this reaction on my 25th birthday. What a beautiful performance. And nice reaction too!
