I have a pole just like this but its slightly old will the elastic need to be replaced before going back to fishing with my pole ?

If you are unsure about the elastic, I would recommend that you replace it.

Very interesting! Never seen that way of fishing. So the line is a set length for the depth you want to fish and the rubber acts as a sort of limited length drag, like on a reel? Is the pole carbon fiber? Thanks again Den. Just going through your videos on float building a second time. Your very good at explaining and filming. Thanks! Sub'd for sure!

Hi Bert. You are pretty much spot on with your explanation of Pole Fishing above. And Yes, the Pole is Carbon Fiber. The older Poles, which were either Fiberglass or a Composite material were much too heavy.
