I was way under one day and realized i didn't stretch before i caught my step, then stretched, thus making my strides longer.

You need confidence that the step is right, that’s why you have check marks on runway

He slipped a funny in and I caught it. He said maybe you just ran the 4x4 and your legs are shot. If you just ran the 4x4, congrats on your world record attempts! It's always the last event of the meet.

You'd be surprised how many times the pole vault is still going on after the meet is over...

I have a question, so I'm on a 6 step and I am right handed. Recently Ive been taking off my left foot, and my steps are perfectly fine but for some reason I'm adding in another step and taking off my left and not my right. Do you know why that's happening or how to fix it?

Sir, I wanted to ask you about something Where should we take the takeoff from heel or the claw? And sir this topic is so important to me thinks sir

Take off from your toes (or claw) you always want to be on your toes running down the runway. Running on your heels slows you down and can block you when you approach the box

This helps a lot!!! I'm a freshman in hs, I've been jumping for about 5 months, and my PR is 13ft. But, I kinda feel stumped and I think it's because of my takeoff. So, thanks for the vid.

Shawn, does it matter which foot is the lead on take off, I was an old right handed pole vaulter a long long time ago and I noticed, I used to lead with my left foot, ---------while most lead with their right........why is that?
@TeamHootPoleVault4 жыл бұрын
I bet you're a left-handed pole vaulter! 99% of people who plant with their right hand above their head take-off or jump off of their left foot and visa versa. It makes more sense bio-mechanically to do this way but there have been instances of others doing it the other way. Check out old pole vault videos of Bruce Jenner. But id bet money you'd be a successful lefty

@@TeamHootPoleVault ......well, you've made my day, fella.........lol, I thought I was the only guy in the whole that vaulted that way, I was right handed vaulter~~went back and looked at ole Jenner films, yep, him too......I started out with bamboo around 1960 or so, later aluminum, then back to Bamboo .....back yard pit made of sawdust and rice hulls.....little over 3 1/2 meters was my best, in high school .....in high school we had one f/g pole rated at 160#.......I weighed 135 back then, :((..................my older brother took me to track meets to see Don Bragg, Pennel, Uelsis and i was able to watch the transformation from Aluminum to glass........still enjoy following Mondo, Kendricks, Renaud, et al
