Posting this before I watch so that I can be unbiased (I hope). But fishing one method for 30 minutes and then switching to the other method does seem a flawed comparison. That is,, building the swim would seem that the second method would most likely appear better. Just my 2c. Now gonna watch and see what happens.

I always keep a 10m system whip handy in case pike are a problem. You can pull fish out in front of pike. Only problem is I was almost hit by a 10lb pike jumping out after a 6oz roach on the Thames……

Whip over pole for me every time. I sometimes use waggler on whip and even float ledger on the whip. Not heard anyone else do this but believe me, it works 😮😊

The weather(wind) is key. Headwind or downstreamer, pole is best. But when conditions are right, the whip for me.

Not if you use a bottom end only float on the whip. if you use a top and bottom it blows all over the place.

Weight of Whip and Weight of Pole would be interesting. I think fish on Pole have been bigger. Greetings from Germany.

A few folks have commented about the wind affecting the whip fishing, if you use the right float and rig it will cope with the wind BETTER than a pole.

A whip always has its place I carry a 4m in my bag for small ponds and canals. Great for roach on the surface.. use a small straw from a kids cup drink held on with rubber pole float bands small hook and caster's for bait. Great bit of fun . Poles yuk bin em floats tips are to small ( you can spot pole anglers , they have to wear glasses) you can't have a brew holding a pole. Rod n line every day

If I was fishing that close I'd use top 2+1 .and still fish to hand... But a whip is fast.. it's just if do hook a big fish ... Bet you got 15lb though .

Its obvious the whip would win, but it did seem like you was rushing on the pole to try and beat the whip, so long as the wind isn't a problem a whip always does the business, just look at the Wye results
