It's definitely a fine line. TTO calls everyone (or most everyone) the day prior to check in about the rules and the time is posted on their electronic billboard. If everyone obeyed the rules and worked within the system it would be better for everyone. But to your point, it is a hassle for law enforcement and they shouldn't have to waste their time or resources on a campground check in. Thanks for the comment. Appreciate you watching the channel. 😎

I wish 1K Trails would improve more of their parks but I feel that with some of them they are trying to maximize profits before improvements and guest satisfaction. Hello we are Barb and Bob from HetteshWorld. We are FT RVers also. Bob originally found your channel and we've been following you for a bit. And I felt like we wanted to comment and introduce ourselves to you guys. We've been to Orlando a few times and I've been wondering when the police would be coming to break up that line. If we get to Orlando we do try to get there right at noon or if we would get there early we would go down to the grocery store and wait it out. But people are so funny about needing to get in and get the right spot. We don't even care. We've been there enough that we know the whole park is good and it's fine no matter where we end up cuz it's more about the adventure and the journey than where you're parked. But we wanted to share that we truly enjoy your channel. We love the interaction between the two of you. And we are originally from Indiana but now we are Texans. We discovered Whataburger on our honeymoon in 1988. So every time we came to Texas throughout the years prior to RVing we ate it. Now we are, how do you say it, addicted? Lol. But we just wanted to introduce ourselves and tell you that you guys are doing a great job on your channel. Thanks!

Hey Barb and Bob! 👋 So glad you'all found the Channel and thank you for the kind words - especially since we are so new to all this video stuff - but not new to full-timing (in our 8th year). Like you, we don't care where TTO puts us because we are grateful for getting a site we can fit in. I actually prefer the older section over the newer section because it feels more like camping. Your word choice "addicted" is spot on - David is addicted to Whataburger and has drug our granddaughters down that hole 🤦♀️. I'd be addicted too, but I just don't like their tough buns. So I get the chicken tenders and fries - which are awesome! Maybe we will meet up sometime down the road. Safe travels! 😊

Hey Barb and Bob! Thanks for the comments. Whataburger is "fine dining" Texas style! 🤣It would be great to meetup on the road one day and talk about our travels. We completely agree on 1K Trails Orlando, we can fit in most any site and all have their positives and negatives. Honestly, when we get to a campground, we're not there for the amenities, we're there to enjoy the area around the campground. Appreciate you watching the channel. We volunteered for the NPS at Yellowstone for a summer and really enjoyed it (we were camp hosts) and visited Grand Tetons NP too. They had an earthquake previous to our visit so we couldn't hike around Jenny Lake but it is gorgeous. Safe Travels.😎🤙

Interesting video you two, but the noon check in time is not new, the first time we stayed at TTO was in Nov, 2015 and the noon parade was happening then as well. Your thumbnail caught my eye and I danced with your red button. Safe travels. 👍🍻 Sean
@bigtruckbigtravels Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. The noon check in time has been around for years but until about 3 years ago was not fully enforced. They would let people drift in at 11:45am or let them park on the road. They are strict now and enforcing the check in time vigorously during the high season. Appreciate you tuning in. Aloha 😎
@mrsbigtruckbigtravels726 Жыл бұрын
Hi Sean, I think what surprised us about the "noon" check-in is that it's NOT NEW like what you said, and TTO calls everyone to say don't show up a minute before noon. And yet all these people show up anyhow. 🤷♀️ I'm glad you decided to join the dance! Thanks, and maybe we will meet up on the road sometime (at a TT? I see you were at Conroe too) 😊
@TexasLadyS Жыл бұрын
That is absolutely ridiculous! TTO needs to fix their check in procedures. The Sheriff should be writing tickets to TTO instead of the individual drivers. I am certain that there are city and county statutes being broken and they’re ultimately the guilty party.
@bigtruckbigtravels Жыл бұрын
It's a very unique situation, Sheila. Not a great solution on either side. It's a very high demand park because it's their nicest one in the whole system. I think if they upgraded more parks then it would help to decrease demand slightly at TTO. Glad you're along on the journey. Appreciate the comments. Thanks for watching. 😊

@mrsbigtruckbigtravels726 Жыл бұрын
Hi Todd, I don't use our vacuum packer on everything because of the high cost of the bags as compared to zip-locks. But they vacuum pack bags are great to thaw and heat the burgers in. Cut a small slit in the bag to vent and microwave on 50% power for 3min 30sec. You may need to tweak the time based on your microwave. Let rest for a few minutes while dressing the bun. The burgers come out tender and juicy. I also sauté onions and freeze them on a cookie sheet spread out then put in a bag. Thaw/warm in microwave bowl and put on burger too. This is one of our go-to meals on a long travel day. I don't grill but David does an awesome job with the Webber with other meats and recently pizza! 🤩 thanks for the comment and watching the Channel. 🙂

Thanks for asking, David. She was getting it back around the holidays but got another round of Covid and lost anything she had gained which was very disappointing for her. She has maybe 40% of her smell and virtually no taste yet. It's weird because anything that she DOES smell is usually not a good scent but a bad one so very frustrating for her. She's trying zinc in cycles to see if that will help. Thanks for the comment. 😎
@mrsbigtruckbigtravels726 Жыл бұрын
Hi David, I was so close to getting my taste back about a year after getting Covid (October '21) but lost everything when I got a very mild case of it this past August '22. So I'm back to T=0. I can kind of taste very strong flavors and all smells stink to me. But what's really weird is my mouth is super sensitive to textures. I can feel every detail of texture in my mouth - like the little flower buds in broccoli. I've discovered that many of my dishes are very boring from a texture point of view, so I'm adjusting to make them more exciting - so maybe this will make me a better cook? 😀 Chocolate is my favorite thing to taste and smell and that's what I miss most. 🥺 Thanks for the comment and maybe one day we will get back to normal. Educate me please, what was the train all about? Windows looked blacked out. Was it a ride with animation inside or ? That would be more my speed since the roller coasters wouldn't work for me like they used to. And a charge (in a membership/dues charged park) for receiving a package (or maybe a few lol) for you is a bit overkill. It's not like you'd let it sit with their office and take up valuable real estate space for a week. Packages are usually needed immediately upon arrival for most of us. SMH on that one. Good to see you again and looking forward to the next vlog.
@bigtruckbigtravels Жыл бұрын
Thanks KB. Yeah, the package charge is not good but it's a business decision. I think many abused it. When we order and have something delivered it's because we need it. No doubt. The Hogwarts Express is a train ride with animation during the trip. It's really cool and a neat way to get to the other part of the park. The animation is different each way and depicts either Harry P and friends going to Hogwarts or leaving it and heading to London. Lots of fun. Appreciate the comments. 😎

The first is the Spicy BBQ Bacon Burger. It's a little tangy and spicy but very delicious (you will not leave hungry). The second is the Patty Melt but substitute the texas toast for the Brioche bun. The Patty melt is made with the Whataburger Pepper Sauce which is very good with a little bit of spice to it. You won't regret getting either one! LOL. Let me know how you like it...good review or bad, I'd like to know. Also, if your french fries are not hot and crispy then take them back...they will remake them and deliver to your table. Bon Appetit mon ami!

This is the problem with a “hard” check in time. There shouldn’t be a problem with checking in early. Open it up and let people in. Charge an extra $10 or $20 depending on how early people are. Thousand trails is causing the problem themselves.

Hi Dodge Guy. Unfortunately TT is FCFS which has a tendency to bring out the worst in people fighting for that perfect spot like the Wild West. Check out time is 11am and between 11 and 12 people are allowed to change sites if they like an open site better. Check out dates are posted in everyone's window. We've had people actually knock on our door asking for an exact time that we plan on leaving so they can have our site 2 seconds after we leave. It's crazy! Because of our size, I'm all for bending the rules, but sometimes rules are put in place for a good reason and after coming to TTO now for over 7 years, I totally agree with the noon check-in. Before this rule was put in place it was a madhouse and an extremely stressful process. Be sure to subscribe and watch the video about the check-in process. Thanks for your comment and for watching the Channel. 😊

@@mrsbigtruckbigtravels726 Does TTO explain or forewarn visitors,upon booking, about the traffic problems at check-in? I’d bet one of those burgers that if the city or county FINED TTO for repeatedly causing traffic hazards related to their check-in policy, they would change that policy quickly and *POOF* no more line of RVs ! They just don’t have the right motivation to do anything about it as long as its their clients being fined and not the business. As a former business owner, I’d say they just have no respect for their clients.
@kennethdebbiedavis865 Жыл бұрын
I get the “hard” check in time. Many places purposely put in 1-2 hour buffer periods to ensure the site is vacant and to make sure the site is clean and all hookups are in good working order, grass trimmed, etc. But they need to respect the clients and make changes so people dont get fines by simply showing up to check in.

Orlando is super popular and everyone wants to get there early to get a good site. It's an issue because of the volume of campers. They are trying to improve and we think they've done a nice job given the circumstances.

I don't have a rv, but if you're traveling and you're a tad early, they should have a place for people to wait, not give them all a ticket. I get if they didn't read the sign.

That's a good idea, Kristina but that could be upwards of 40 RV'S which would be there early. It's just not set up for it. It's a difficult situation all around.

This seems to be a scheme. At the very least, someone should be able to find a compromise. Those rigs use a lot of fuel and to force them to have to exit the park and then drive around aimlessly seems wrong.

1K Trails is definitely not for everyone and we struggle sometimes with the inconsistencies among the properties. But it works for us and our needs are simple right now. Who knows in the future?!? Orlando is not a perfect system but I truly believe it's better than a few years ago. People wood come in the night before and park in the "waiting area" just to be first in line. Over 1100 sites, if you have a reservation then you'll get a site you'll fit in. Thanks for the comments. 😃
@mrsbigtruckbigtravels726 Жыл бұрын
Many people plan their arrival for noontime as specifically instructed by the park rules to prevent mass chaos. If you happen to breeze thru Orlando and miss all the traffic, then there are several places nearby to hang out until noon, including a Walmart. The people we saw were those who were trying to circumvent the system and basically cut in line to get an early check-in. Check out time is 11am. This gives the park rangers an hour to verify open sites to escort campers to. They average 50 check-ins per day and 150 on Sundays ( this season). It's not a perfect system, but enforcing the rules certainly makes for a smooth and quick check-in process. 👍 thanks for watching and your comment. 🙂

It's clear that this campground management has a Karen at the wheel. Someone who has control issues. I'd let people come in and fill up every spot, then make them stand in line at the office. It makes no sense to force people to drive around until exactly noon. And solely because of this noon rule, I'd never waste my time driving around in circles. As for Universal Studios, I visited there just 6 months before the Harry Potter area was opened. I'd love to live at the Harry Potter world. Especially if I had free rain to walk around during closed hours. That would be awesome.

Really cool and very immersive. And they are true to the spirit of the movie in that there is no sign outside telling you where Diagon Alley is located, so you go into this building portico and around a corner and the brick wall has the sounds of it disassembling. Really neat area. Thanks for the comment. Appreciate you watching the channel. 😊

@mrsbigtruckbigtravels726 Жыл бұрын
Hey Sparky, our expressions were more of shock that the campers were trying to circumvent the system and were mad because they weren't getting away with it. We also think that the RV in the back of the line was the one who called the sheriff's office so the sheriff would come and tell everyone in front of him to move on along 🤦♀️. TTO makes it very clear that you are not to arrive one minute before noon or you will be asked to exit the area. They do this for good reason too. No one was ticketed (so no money scam) and the early birds who had to go back to the end of the line still got a camp site. Thanks for the comment and observations. 😊

But if 1,000 trails PAID the Sheriff's department to sit out there to ensure saftey, it would then be no problem for all those rv's to sit there waiting. It's all about $$$$$ 1,000 trails has the money to do it AND they have the responsibility to address it.

@wetspotswimwear1199 Жыл бұрын
@bigtruckbigtravels no, you would still have the same problem, if everyone showed up at the same time, you will still have them lined up out on the side of the road. Which btw, looks like an entrance strip of road to turn into, to slow down before actually entering the driveway. Which turns it into 1,000 trails responsible to keep their entrance clear. Having an earlier check in time won't help, people will just be lined up earlier. Having a staging area at the entrance before check in would be the second solution, after just paying the Sheriff's department to be out on the road. It is not the campers fault or responsibly to keep the entrance road clear, ask a lawyer. I drove truck for 40yrs, same scenario at a warehouse near Orlando, 35/40 trucks would line up on the street. They would not let you in til 11pm. All the Sheriff department could do was ask the warehouse to try to start getting us checked in, of course they didn't, nor could the Sheriff ticket us drivers. Argue all you want, it is 1,000 trails responsibly. p.s. that Sheriff was not trying to go after any of the campers in the video, you could tell, he was merely pulling into the driveway to get to the check in office.
