And yet people make bad choices. Which is why so many of the amendments in the Bill of Rights pertain to law enforcement and the justice system. Turns out we don't get to treat people like crap just because they are accused of breaking the law. All people should be considered innocent until they are given a fair trial by a group of their peers. Resisting arrest/fleeing does not automatically make a person an imminent threat. I can understand, and I'm not saying that these are evil cops beating the shit out of some guy, but this guy clearly was on something or having some kind of psychiatric issue, but he was terrified, and tactically, isn't escalating the violence and yelling causing him to resist more? This is the shit that I wish cops would be open to talking about. Even when someone is shot and the moment of the shot is considered a "good shoot", all the events leading up to it can often be counter productive. I wonder how this would have gone differently if the cops understood in the moment that he was resisting because he was afraid for his life, regardless of him being wrong, and that screaming at him and continuing to use physical force was just escalating his fight or flight response. He doesn't want to lay on his stomach because he thinks they're going to execute him. How might things have changed if they de-escalated the situation, explained calmly what he was being arrested for, tried to show that they're good guys, and just brought the intensity down to a level where his adrenaline isn't pumping and he could be reasoned with. I don't hate cops, but I'm absolutely terrified of them.

Im former military myself, so I 100% understand having your battle buddy's back. But why is it that when an officer is BLATANTLY in the wrong that usually other officers are standing there NOT stopping it? Is there an omerta amongst police that you dont step on the others toes, even when you KNOW it's wrong? (The Floyd video perfectly illustrates what I mean. The cop is on his neck, and officer Thao is more concerned about being in the face of others filming than telling his partner to get off George Floyds neck). So at 5:00 a cop tasers the guy for 10 seconds while he's lying on the ground. At no time was this suspect violent. In light of Chauvin's actions to a man lying on his stomach I wouldn't want to be in that position either. The problem here is, the guy was drunk and he was scared. He doesn’t trust the police to handcuff him and transport him safely. The cops responded by being excessive. Police have to realize that ppl aren’t going to be cooperative if they have handcuffs on, if they don’t trust the police. Serious question: As a police officer, if you encounter the case that someone does not comply with your orders, there are two options: either they are wittingly uncooperative, or unwittingly uncooperative. In the first case, the use of force is justified. But how do you deal with the second case? Do you even make this distinction at all? The guy looks like he's drugged /drunk / otherwise not in a clear state of mind (and if he wasn't than let's pretend for the sake of argument that he was). How is he supposed to follow the police officers orders, if he cannot think straight? Is this much use of force still justified? This obviously can also apply in all sorts of cases (dealing with deaf people, people suffering from schizophrenia, etc.)

Ehhhh still excessive force. He was drunk and confused. Should he have run? Idk. Idc. Personally I don't think public intoxication should be considered a crime. How does it get this man on his stomach by hitting him repeatedly? Beat him until he listens? No. That's not law enforcement. That's power tripping. Besides this was benign compared to some of the stuff coming out recently. You seem like a good guy, and you do seem genuine, don't mistake this for blind cop hate. I've seen your videos before and watch them on occasion, and they're very educational and interesting. I'm gonna assume you havent seen all of what's come out recently, because some of what's been going on is *blatantly inexcusable*. Idk if it's that most of your viewers havent been raised in really poor neighborhoods, but finding an actually good cop in these areas that wants to help are an exceptionally rare, however, more than welcome blessing.

Public intoxication should be considered a crime because people never know how you'll act when you're drunk. People can get into fights and harm/kill people. Their thoughts are impaired which means they could become aggressive or violent with civilians. If you want to drink do it at home or on a bar

I'm not trained and it seems obvious I could do a better job. 1. Show ID 2. Don't swear 3. Don't beat him with the baton 4. If he still doesn't turnover on his stomach after showing ID, omg there are 3 cops. Two grab an arm each while the 3rd holds a taser. Force him into a sitting position by twisting his arms. 3rd cop handcuffs him. If only there were more decent cops than bully cops. Everyone's afraid of you. 1000s of videos by experts and lawyers warn the people on how to survive you without being injured, killed or framed. The courts deny your purpose is to protect the people. We are 9/10s of the way to a police state because so few of you are prepared to whistleblow on the corrupt cops. The saddest thing of all is that you all think this video vindicates you, when a 50 years ago cop would be horrified by you. George Floyd was a Christian well known for his ministry and good works who worked security alongside the cop who killed him. I cannot wait for the investigation.

I want to know why he was being arrested. If that level of force is being used for a non violent misdemeanor then that should be ruled excessive force. Would you seriously escalate to that level over a stolen candy bar? I hope not. In many states the victim will win a nice settlement. I know in my home state of Alaska that is a big factor in use of force cases. I mean yes the level of resistance justifies the level of force, but how about the reason the detention or arrest is taking place?

What was the crime? For a crime to be committed there has to be a victim. The only victim is the man being chased and beaten by the blue gang.

@@earllister5627 That's not at all true. There are plenty of things that you can do that can be considered criminal. Once he grabbed a weapon, it would be deadly force situation in our state. This is because the less than lethal weapon could be used against the officer to obtain the officer's firearm. Also, even attempting to disarm a police officer is a felony in most states.

If I went about this situation like they did, I would be fired and jailed. From day one I have been taught various ways to get a resistant person on their stomach and it's even easier with a partner. There are so many lock, pain points and so on to get someone on to their stomach. I think this was a massive fustercluck and these cops should be sent to or given extra training.

Honestly the cops did a terrible job with the arrest. Not really surprised he reacted to it. I've seen conscrpit MP's with a few months of training handle arrests better. If he doesn't turn around on his belly they don't have to have him do it by himself by ordering or even worse beat him into doing it. They can easily do that themselves and there's a teqhnicue for it. It's very easy and basically just requires them to grab his hands and there's nothing he can do. Also if he keeps resisting they can just spray some OC in their hand and put their hand against his eyes. Works well and doesn't affect the partner or yourself of you just remember not to touch your face.

He acts completely irrational (unless he is faking it, but then he is really good at it an probably paid the first camera). So he is unpredictable.
