Various reasons - lack of ethics in police and corruption, police becoming private armies of ruling governments rather than serving the public are the two key reasons. Other reasons are paucity of jails, lack of proper investigation, shortage of resources due to which long pending cases in judiciary. Do we need this burden of policing on our public exchequer when they no longer serve the public except the politicians? Why not politicians bear the burden of their own security? We need only organizations like CID, CBI to investigate cases and produce reports before the courts. These organizations can have special police under them to arrest people told by CID, CBI and send them to jails and produce them before courts and to take care of those sentenced in the jails.
