@@JeffreyTLe-rj5ey I was never asked anything outlandish. Most of the questions are mentioned by the top interview videos here on youtube. Some questions were like, why do you want to work for us? What made you want to become a cop? What is the hardest decision you have had to make? What do you think the hardest thing is that police officers have to face? I had like 3 interviews and some version of all of these were asked each time

@@Avituals So I passed the written test, in my county we do the 2000 meter Rowing test. I was doing really well then I lost my damn grip and fell off the seat 🤦🏾‍♂️. So that automatically disqualified me. I have to retake the physical again. It's going to be a while because they are currently working on the class I was in. I don't want another district so I'm waiting for a retest date! Best of luck to you just make sure you're prepared for that physical part because the written test is easy breezy!

I want to be a deputy because when my twin brother passed away who was in law enforcement I lost my only brother and I realized the day at his funeral I witnessed hundreds of officers that didn’t even know him come to that building and treated us like family. And I realized I have brothers In law enforcement and I would love to have that brotherhood and help protect people that can’t protect themselves. It’s a calling within my heart that I can’t shake. It’s something i just feel the need to serve. That would be my most honest off the cuff answer

I sweated that question and didn't have a clue how to respond. I agree with your statements, but I wanted my answers unique and original. Surprisingly, the applicant investigator never asked me it. They were hiring 400 new cops, and the 6 or 7 applicant investigators were bombarded with paperwork. Summer vacations were coming up and staff were going to be out. He seemed indifferent, uninterested, and not particularly friendly. There were injunctions and lawsuits on the list to deal with. He just wanted to push me through. And summer is also the time they hire school crossing guards and have tons of additional work. I like the Mets. My friends make fun of me over this. They like the Yankees. I wanted to be a Marine. My older and influential brother said the USAF is better. This means we're all different. I didn't have a conscious reason for wanting to become a police officer and couldn't explain why I wanted to become a cop. It's in my genes. I've made captain and interview those seeking administrative advancement. Guys (and ladies) giving opposite answers to the same question may both be right. We look for poise, confidence, verbal ability, appearance, and mostly a history of successful decision making.

The first questions I was asked every time was “what do you know about this department,” followed by “tell me what you’ve done to prepare for this career.” Your videos helped alot! Thank you for what you do

My answer: Well..... You serve and protect the community in which you preside and you have sworn-in officers who protect the streets from the bad guys. As far as preparation goes? Well, I have watched a lot of realistic cop movies including End of Watch and Police Academy, both 1, 2, and 3, so I understand what I'm getting myself into.

@cameronbowman5556 I think it went really well for me even tho I slept in and panicked, cut myself shaving. The Captain was so cool. Be yourself. These people can read people like a book. Perfect people don't exist, so just be genuine, and you got this.

Nobody will help me with this issue but I’m 29 years old. I have worked at my current job since I was 17. Never been wrote up. Never been late and I have a GREAT opportunity to apply to my department as a deputy and I’m very concerned about how to handle my employment references if I’m still working here and I don’t want my boss to fire me if the sheriff calls him asking for a reference because clearly this is my only solid reference because I have only worked here aside from home jobs like mowing yard, picking up hay etc just normal guy stuff but official job is just this one that I’m still currently working so how do I handle this? Please help me I’m stressing out about it badly

@craig over here in TEXAS if you resume look extremely basic , YOU WIN! Don’t get discouraged,they literally say:NO EXperience need , meaning no experience, easy resume . If you talking about resumes . You might not look good on paper But you can do the job if you really love and get it Right? Let’s keep trying.💪🏿

Just take your time, they may throw out a stresser question, don't be afraid to pause for a second or two and then answer. Being able to think and then respond under stress is something they look for, just breath....Good luck.

What if I had multiple jobs when I was younger and got fired from 3 will that be a flag on my background check if so I was thinking what if I gave them an good explanation of why I had so many jobs and got fired please help me

I did this dude and they said they’re not sure about me and want me to do another job as a security guard for jail for 3 years and then reapply going through the entire process all over again. They might consider you, but 80% chance they’ll tell you something similar

All good citizens should be working hand in hand with the police force. If you lead an extraordinary life and you are extremely honest in everything you do than you can be the eyes and ears of the force. I don’t have a career in the force yet I will report any suspicious behaviour or if I see someone breaking the law I will report them. I have a brilliant app on my phone called video armor and I have a harness for my iPhone so I am video auditing everywhere I go to catch crimes in action and also for my own protection. I have busted drug dealers in my area and I brought a child sex offender to justice about five years ago. I did my own surveillance on him. I waited and watched him and got him talking to the point where he was showing me little boys from Cambodia on he’s computer where he would travel overseas to meet them. He was using the library internet to look at children on he’s computer. So you don’t have to be a police officer or detective to help police bring criminals to justice. We can all become outstanding citizens and be part of neighbourhood watch. I suggest every good citizen arm themselves with a good camera, that’s how I was able to catch this Paedophile I had him on audio and film.have your camera on and running at all times to catch the action and for your own protection. We are living in dangerous times now where people are becoming increasingly violent toward each other. 💙🖤
