In the UK 30mph over the mark speed limit is an automatic loss of licence. 61 over the marked limit, I hope it would be arrest as the area that is been driven through is likely to be residential, or businesses with slow moving vehicles and people stepping off the curb (we jaywalk all the time as it's not illegal), or kids on bikes, etc. Highly dangerous, 90 feckin 6 what the hell was be thinking?

It's a weird line of chiefs who would speed like that in their territory who would also respect being pulled over. I imagine most chiefs that would act like this when pulled over aren't doing things to get themselves pulled over all too often.

He (arresting officer) was probably put on foot patrol after this all calmed down. Can see him called into his bosses office about 60 days later and told he was being transferred to foot patrol because the department needed honest policemen like him close to the public, however there would be a "slight" decrease in salary but the department knows you can handle it. Thanks for your service young man. You have a good day son.

What is there to respect. If it were LITERALLY ANY OTHER PERSON this would be EXPECTED. There is no reason to give them props for doing the bare minimum. Edit: Furthermore, they were doing 96 in a 35. That is well beyond reckless. They should not be a cop if they are willing to endanger others on the road in such an extreme fashion.

One cop was arrested multiple times for beating his wife and refusing to pay to enter fairs, working drunk, etc After he was finally fired he sued the town and still kept his pension. Ridiculous Another town my old man worked for had a chief that raped women in his suv, had an insurance scam with a dealership stealing cars, and tied with Chinese mob. My father was black listed from getting a job at other departments cause he was a “rat” for reporting the above.

If the speed limit in an area is 35, it's because they have determined that's the fastest speed you can safely drive. 35 is pretty low so it indicates that there are potential hazards around such as pedestrians etc. There is a world of difference between going 1mph over and going nearly triple the speed. If I have to explain that difference to you, you should have your license revoked as well. 60mph over the speed limit is multiple counts of reckless endangerment in addition to the plain speed infraction. Quit being a fool.

The story was covered on fox 5 atlanta. He was reduced to a warning and given a 5 day suspension. Anybody else would of been automatically arrested and given reckless driving as a minimum.

But still gave him a break by not arresting him and impounding his car (his city cop car!! the city can bill him for the impound fees lol) which should have been done given the amount over the speed limit he was. At 60 plus over you ain't getting a reduced citation and should get the reckless driving charge no matter your previous driving record. Since it was a must appear, it probably was a misdemeanor careless or reckless depending on state law but the cop has discretion on arresting and should have made the arrest here. Had enough guts to give him the full citation but not make an arrest of on the chief.

Very glad he was held responsible because 96 in a 35 is wild dangerous. Roads curves, sight distance calculations for people turning on adjacent street, etc… the speed limit is a way for a reason it’s not just a suggestion. Yes you can safely go like 10-15 above but anything more and you’re asking for trouble if you’re not on a highway or something

​@@778hallo That ticket would've cost me 10400$.... because where I live that would be a felony charge with Grand Excessive Speed, our License have 15pts before losing it, a Grand Excessive charge is double the speed limit, this guy did almost triple, would've lost like 40pts here (2 and a half license to buy back, redo a year of license formation per license), impoundment of the car for 6months (all paid by his pocket) plus more or less 5000$ in fines Knowing an impounded car would cost like 10$ a day, that alone would be like 1800$, each license cost 1200$ so times 3, 3600$.

No. 61mph over is mandatory jail time in most states, and usually comes with a slew of other arrestable offenses. The police for this specific department in GA is to arrest and impound the vehicle if defined as a "super speeder" (75+ on 2 lane, 85+ on 4 lane or interstate), so why the hell didn't he arrest the officer and have the other officer in the car drive it to be impounded?
