Also, I don't think that it was appropriate for the officer to look through the window. This was not an investigation. It was clear that there was no medical emergency. Once again, the problem started is that they relied on just the 911 call.

Why is it so hard for police officers to identify themselves and explain why they are there before becoming all hostile. This officer set the tone of this interaction the minute he said, " baby momma." He knew early on that they were at the wrong address, but instead of acknowledging their mistake, he continued to escalate the situation. This is exactly how things go wrong. Their egos won't let them admit they made a mistake, so instead of apologizing and moving on to where they are actually supposed to be, they continued to escalate. They are so stupid because their own body cams record their actions, but then again, sometimes that doesn't mean anything. I'm glad this it did.

That wasn't admission of wrong address but confirmation of what the guy was stating in a more round about way. Due to how things went, we cannot be full certain that it was the wrong address, the call was done out of mistaken belief that someone drank the acetone and they won't admit they were mistaken to the cops, or if this was in fact the right address and someone did drink the acetone and just trying to cover up that fact for fear of getting into trouble and CPS getting involved. However, if things started off correctly and the cops right off the bat just started with telling the man that they received a call... and just wish to confirm that everyone there was fine and confirm this was the correct address, it may have gotten better results; but more than likely, would have left with the same amount of info as they did, but much more quickly and peacefully.

What may have begun as good intentions before they stepped foot on the property turned into harassment the moment the sergeant stepped out. The male officer was intimidated by the sergeant and escalated to present himself as dominant. After finding out that they were at the wrong address, they continued the harassment because their 'authority' was not being recognized

Don't you know, cops are specifically chosen based on lower than average intelligence. I mean, this is published information... Apparently intelligence makes people want to commit crimes, so only dumb people get to point guns at everyone because they don't understand enough to do crimes. Or at least that's how it's interpreted in my head. Makes complete sense if your target demographic are the chronically poor and disenfranchised. Because if dumb people aren't smart enough to do crimes, why do we need police for the uneducated poor? @@ABCRapster You can tell the female Officer was trying to do that, but her partner muffed it up so bad by that point it was pretty much impossible to salvage. This is one of those where nothing notable should have happened in this encounter but because of somebody's bad attitude (frequently the civilian's, but the cop's in this case) somebody had their life permanently altered. Luckily nobody got injured or worse.

You've forgotten *THE REAL PROBLEM* which was presented on another You Tube channel recently: the cops had *GOT THE WRONG ADDRESS* !!!! Not only did they insult the people in the house, but they totally got the wrong address. Notice that the cops did NOT say why they were there and they did NOT say who had sent them. The cops did not ever say "We are looking for these people" (and give the names). Since the cops did not ever explain who they were and why they were there, the cops jumped straight to the PERSONAL INSULTS stage. Not to sound insensitive but you don't deal with the same people and neighborhoods they do. Depending on the neighborhood, white or black, they were very likely to meet a man at the door who would say "she ain't my wife, what the hell you thinkin'?", and the cops would be cussed our for assuming that man was married to the woman in the house or responsible for her kids. Once again, not being mean, but this happens more often than not in certain housing complexes.

My father was a green beret, and had a few encounters where police tried to overstep their bounds with him. He taught me a lot about how to protect my rights and deny police abuse. He would audit his own rights frequently by sitting on the porch, cleaning his firearms and practice shooting. Our property had a large clearance from other homes, well outside the limits to allow him to discharge firearms freely on the property. Funniest thing I have ever seen is an officer getting the F out after being shown they were operating outside the bounds of the law and violating our rights and illegally trespassing.

@@mikeworkman3593 I doubt if he was at the door of a rich couple in a multi-million dollar house he would ask the husband if that was his "baby mama" we all know police treat lower income neighbourhoods more unprofessionally because compared to complaints from wealthier neighbourhoods lower income ones just get over looked meaning cops just don't care enough to put on an act (which leads to them showing their true colours) and not to mention how race also plays apart in this.. cops tend to use what they would see as "hood" slang in a mocking discriminatory way - because I highly doubt he would knock on the door of a white family and say "is that your baby mama?" - anyone with an once of common sense or basic comprehension skills would understand that this cop is clearly unfit to have a badge and to pose as a public servant.

@south968 Absolutely true. There have been numerous cases in my county where someone called the cops because a family member was in crisis and the cops wound up shooting and killing the person in crisis. In many jurisdictions (like the one I live in) the Cops are a legalized execution squad.

well not really. people should try to avoid calling them imo. just look recently, a business owner called leos 4 help and was assaulted and arrested. another where a man called about a loose dog and was arrested for free speech. a teenager was having a medical emergency and with emts on scene was choked and assaulted by leos. so just think twice b4 involving police bc theres no situation they cant make worse

I don’t answer the door period. I am female and live with another female so unless I invited someone over, you don’t need to knock on my door or ring my doorbell except to drop off a package and immediately leave. It’s too unsafe to answer the door to strangers anymore. And please don’t be telling me to get a gun for protection. I have a gun. I prefer not to use it on someone.

The most memorable moment for me as a very young child was when I watched an older member of my neighborhood get arrested the officer put him on the hood he said “you aren’t any better than any of us you aren’t any better than a drug dealer or gang member for the simple fact you thrive off of the same thing we do. The suffering of others” and the cop said “you aren’t wrong but we all have a job to do right?”

That’s right, that’s an automatic assumption that they are “ghetto” and pretty much drawing a line between showing to the citizen where he belongs and what the officer is thinking of him. This is really fucked up. But even if it wasn't an assumption, still, living in a ghetto or being "ghetto" is not a crime, and being poor also is not a crime. Just that would be enough to discipline the officer. But with everything else, that’s enough to let him go.

On the original video when the cops was approaching the door to knock the dispatcher could be heard saying that they were at the wrong address. And they still stayed and argued that they had a right to be there and get everyone ID instead of saying I'm sorry we are at the wrong house have a nice day. And go right away to the right address to get any help to someone who needed it.

This could have all been resolved right away if the cops just gave the reason they were there, to begin with. So many of these cases escalate, because cops just show up and start asking questions that don't make sense to the occupants, instead of stating the reason they're there.
