Another great video Randy! These are great questions. They all require integrity in being answered. Honesty is always the best policy.

At a women’s mentoring program, one of the members asked a question: 'What if the person we relate to gives negative feedback about us?' One of the officers responded, 'We will have many references, and we will ask them to figure it out.' In real life, we often face situations where we're not very close with our loved ones or family members, which can make things difficult. I asked about references, saying, 'What if I don’t have friends who know me well enough to put as a reference, or family members in Canada?' I received the answer that I can put people from where I've worked as a reference. I love socializing and having conversations, but I'm not very talkative in the beginning. I tend to be a listener and shy. I had a best friend, but I lost her. Since she's been gone, I've tried to make new friends, but it hasn't worked out. It's not easy to find true friends, especially as you get older or when you're in different countries. When I was applying for something that required references for a security background check, there was no option to write 'I have no friends.' Honestly, it wasn't easy to find someone who knows me well enough to be a reference. For new applicants, it's important to make sure they have good references and to be ready to avoid such challenging situations by having multiple references available. Thank you for another great video; this will help new applicants. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

At my age, being a cop is something I would love to do. As someone who has Asperger's Syndrome, hiring someone as a cop with my condition is a risk. People like me will know the law like the back of their hand but coordination is just..another story. Truth be told, when you have recruiters asking you all these questions, it's just to see if they can serve and protect. Period. I have never heard of a high functioning autistic person be a cop, ever. I could go on and on about why they shouldn't be in law enforcement but that's another story.

I never thought of that to be honest and I appreciate the input 🙏🏼

3:12 - I don't trust somebody who others say doesn't get stressed, angry, etc. You're either lying or worse.... you have no experience with stress or anger management. I don't want the first time you experience stress being when it's time to go after a gunman shooting up a school. Lord knows how you would handle something like that.

Interesting. Because I’ve run into police officers who acted like they couldn’t get hired at Walmart.

Hey, I’m the in background since early April. Got invited in to an interview where they questioned me on a few things, I had to write an essay about past behaviour. Haven’t heard back from the BI since then, any advice?

It hasn’t been too long, hopefully you hear soon. It’s not fair that they leave people hanging.

Very informative and a good video. Obviously when it comes to references you’d choose reliable and honest people. But let’s say one of your references say something they believe is true about you but isn’t? Purely hypothetical, but I’m sure there are cases where people have been removed from the process due to misinformation.

I think so too, hopefully the background officer does their due diligence
