@lincolnmaceachern2410 Leslie was actually cast often as the "handsome leading man" on TV and in the movies. He starred in Forbidden Planet with Walter Pigeon and Ann Frances. Did some guest spots on shows like Columbo. It was his "handsome leading guy" deal that got him cast on Airplane. Lots of "against type" casting in the movie. Turns out Leslie was a natural!

I worked at a Radio/TV facility in 1982. The TV station was an ABC affiliate. One night I was walking down a hall that separated radio from TV. I heard uproarious laughter coming from the TV control room. I looked in the window and saw TV engineers bent over in laughter; there were credits running over what I thought was a freeze frame at the end of a cop show on the Program Monitor. Well I had to see what this was about! I watched the show the next week and hit the floor laughing. So that's what was so funny! I was dumbfounded when it was cancelled so soon.
