Police Stop! Checking motorcycle riders for helmets & driving licences. 3rd Road Pattaya, Thailand.

Out for coffee this morning and came across this police road block checkpoint on 3rd road, Pattaya. No shortage of riders being stopped for not wearing helmets. Once stopped, they perform full checks for driving licences and insurance etc. These checkpoints recently resumed and have been well publicised. Not only foreigners being stopped but Thais as well. Always wear a helmet and make sure to carry your valid driving licence.

I enjoy watching live cams from Thailand and I don't see anyone wearing helmets. In fact, you often see four people on scooters even with babies! Why is it they decide to enforce this only on rare occasion then could care less about back roads?

Easy money for the local BIB as so many ride without helmets n documents there….usually the farangs are pulled over as they’re deemed to have money compared to the Thais!! Strangely enough never see the BIB on soi buakow as more ride without helmets there n they would make a fortune in fines!!

normally they do them outside the police station Eddie, I normally get stopped on the way into phuket

Seems like they are finally doing something. Curiously if the rider has helmet but pillion does not they let them pass. Makes no sense at all.
