It’s always a bit heartbreaking to see a family’s memories and history go to waste like that. An entire lifetime of stories. It looks like whoever lived there made a beautiful home.

Hey Josh, yay another old school exploring vid! 👏🏽 A few things to note in this vid: • TICKS - There are ticks in France and 15% of them carry Lyme disease. Wear long pants tucked into long socks with hiking boots! • SKULL - That's a goat skull. If you google it, you can see the difference between that and a dog skull. 😟 It has a longer snout. • HOARDERS - Did they collect a lot of stuff or was it all picked through by other explorers? • CLEAN - Just seeing it in that condition, it makes me want to go in there to clean and organize. • CHAPEL - That's a mini chapel. Maybe her son was a priest? • LAMP - I think that was a gas lamp that was sitting on the cupboard. The one you said you didn't know what it was. • MASK - With all of that mold in there, you should be wearing a mask!! Bad, naughty Josh! • GET AWAY - That was close! I'm not sure you guys want to spend the night in jail. Do they accept credit cards for bail money over there? 🤔 • Pastries - While in France I hope you had a chance to get some good pastries and croissants. The croissants and chocolate enclairs were my favorite. When we were there, every morning I would get the continental breakfast which consisted of croissants and breads. And in the afternoon, while swimming, I would get a chocolate enclair on the terrace, whch overlooks the pool which is right on the ocean. Heaven! Hey I'm sure you're back home now or off on another adventure. Next time your in France, you should take time to check out the French Riviera, Monte Carlo, Nice and those areas, if y'all are into those kind of things. Maybe a day trip, because it's very expensive to stay there. When my family went, we stayed at the La Reserve de Beaulieu in Beaulieu, France. The cheapest room there is $1046/night. 😮 It was a great experience though. Just an idea. Stay safe and be wise. 😇

It’s crazy seeing the old photos of family members in these places. It is a strong reminder that you are in someone’s house and in a sense their lives. It makes me so sad because you wonder what happened that these people would leave all of these family heirlooms and nostalgic treasures behind? Where are the descendants and do they care and/or know this place exists with all of their family history? Crazy. You would think the town would try to locate someone from the family. With a lot of money this place would make a fabulous B&B!!

The patches (28:20) come from Brussels (capital of Belgium, a little country next to France). The little guy peeing is called Mannequenpis. And the 2nd patch with the winged figure (Saint Michael killing a sand demon) represents the authentic coat of arms of Brussels. These are the kind of souvenirs you can get when you visit a European city. Btw, Belgium is the country with the most castles (châteaux ) per km² ;-)
