I pulled up to my house and quickly went inside before the cop pulled up. When he knocked on the door I didn't answer. Even though he never made contact he wrote me a ticket and sent it in the mail. The worst part about the cop saying you need a CA drivers license to drive in CA is wrong, even without it being international. States have to acknowledge other states. So if a 14 year old from Montana has a driver's license, he can drive in any other state despite their age limits. If you have any states drivers license, you can drive anywhere. Getting in a dick comparison contest with a cop over a minor traffic ticket is a lose-lose situation. They don't care to hear you tell them how to do their job. If they're wrong fight it in court. Patrolman was not wrong in this case.

Well of course. In the US law enforcement is run just like a business with the end goal of making profits. If cops see a homeless guy committing a minor infraction they'll just pass him by because they know they won't be able to get any money from him, but guaranteed if they see someone who looks well off doing the same thing it's ticket writing time. It's well documented that especially in the southeast US the highway patrol specifically targets exotic and expensive vehicles in the hopes that they'll find some excuse to confiscate the vehicle. Even if the driver is later found innocent on all charges, getting the vehicle, cash, or property back is an arduous legal process that can take years to accomplish.
