Police: Woman dies in mauling by 3 dogs in Portsmouth

A woman died after being mauled by three dogs overnight in Portsmouth, police say. Portsmouth police say officers responded to a home at 1815 Atlanta Ave., between Lincoln and Randolph streets, just after 1:30 a.m. and found the woman with serious injuries. She later died at the hospital.

The amount of people that walk their dogs off leash in public is too damn high. You can tell the difference between a trained dog at their good owners side, and an uncontrolled dog wandering 15 feet ahead of a drug addict. It’s obvious people.

I don't believe the story. Why would she move those items if they were blocking the dogs in? If she knew the dogs, they wouldn't have attacked her. Why would she go in the room with those dogs if she didn't know the dogs? The word on the street is: she got into an argument with some men there, and they pushed her in the room to be attacked by the dogs.

Pitbulls are not the problem it's bad breeding and people not being fully educated on how to raise a dog. Bullies that are raised and bred for fighting are generally going to have a mean streak in them unless you know how to rehabilitate a dog with that level of trauma don't try to rescue a fighting dog. Bullies Born outside of the fighting breeders are some of the friendliest and most loving animals I've ever been around. Don't blame the dog blame the unfit dog owners.

As I said in my first comment UNLESS YOU ARE TRAINED TO WORK WITH TRAUMATIZED ANIMALS DON'T RESCUE A FIGHTING DOG. Also pitbulls were originally bred for bull wrangling and not for fighting each other. Fearmonger somewhere else and get educated.

Reminds me of that other story. Strangley enough, the same exact thing happend in that story too. A lady went into someone's home un-announced and was mauled to death by like 5 pit bulls. They ripped one of her feet off, along with most of one of her arms and legs. They put all the dogs down at the scene, but no one was charged as the woman entered the home without permission, or announcing herself. She was just there to drop in on a freind and say "hello".

Entering a home without permission, while not causing damages, in most states is considered a criminal trespass which is not even a crime. The state figures dogs are intelligent enough to not commit random murder, which pitbulls do often. I feel you though

Not real Pitbulls. Mixes of several large breed dogs to get that grizzly bear sized head. That’s not a real Pitbull. Pure bred Pitbulls son or have grizzly bear sized heads. Go look at the American Staffordshire Terrier…..it’s basically a Pitbull, however, notice the head size. It’s not grizzly bear sized. These dogs are not Pitbulls. They are mixed breeds.

These dogs are not Pitbulls. They are mixed breed mutts likely bred from mastiffs in order to get that giant sized head. They’re not Pitbulls….they’re mutts.

Unfortunately this goes on all across the country, two blocks from where I live they killed a man then a week later they attacked another woman tore all of the muscle offer left leg bites around the throat muscle in her left arm pulled off she survived fortunately but this is all over my town I live in Arkansas just out of Memphis I don't know what to tell you to do it used to be a law about them just pray I guess

@@bobroberts2371 We don't raise our dogs in the hood. They are family pets. Pitbulls are naturally gentle, playful and obedient. It's people who mistreat them that make them aggressive. I had an Akita mix, a stray, for 11 years. He was aggressive and extremely protective of me. A one person dog. He got more aggressive as he got older. I made sure he was always tethered in the yard, took all precautions. I loved him dearly. At 11 yo. we had him Pts. He bit my daughter and tried to kill our Pitbull. He was always treated well but he needed to be on a farm where he could run and be himself, he was wild. I couldn't give him that. I think it was stress, part wolf maybe. I was his person and I miss him.

@@bobroberts2371 We have always gotten our PB's from shelter. They are dogs we prefer because of their temperament. They need direction and training, like any dog. But they have great personalities. Playful, needy, loyal, trustworthy and good alert dogs. Ours is 105 lbs. He plays rough. He takes his commands in German, it works better. To him, I am the Alpha, not my husband. We are down to one PB right now. We will adopt again soon. another PB. So? Your question ❓ No, they are Not naturally aggressive.

Pitbulls are not aggressive unless bred with other large dogs, such as mastiffs and trained and physically abused daily. That’s what these people do. They find a large breed dog to breed with their pitbull. When the puppies are born they are immediately abused and tormented to make them vicious and savage. Most of these killer dogs are not actually pitbulls….they are mixes of several large breed dogs with massive heads. Pure bred Pitbulls do not have grizzly bear sized heads. If it does….it’s not a Pitbull….it’s a mix of large breed dogs in order to get a dog with a head the size of a grizzly bear.

Blame the OWNER not the breed... I live in Jersey City and see these horrible owners of pit bulls teaching a perfectly good puppy that wants to be social to avoid people and physically hitting them to make them more aggressive... Meanwhile you go two or three towns north of me and see people with properly trained perfectly well adjusted and friendly pits.....

People calling these dogs Pitbulls. I think that’s hilarious. Pitbulls should be no more than 40 pounds….if they are pure bred. These dogs are not pitbulls. They are mixed breed mitts derived from mastiffs in order to get that huge head. No pure bred Pitbull should be over 40 pounds. Go look it up.

Chihuahuas Bite far more people, The news just makes these poor pits sound bad. Babies like to get bitten anyways, that is how they learn not to tease dogs People who are too slow to get away are not fit anyway, like in the wild, the predators only pick off the weak, it is the cycle of life. Pitbull's are kind and innocent. [Any more stupid arguments to not exterminate this breed please post below]
