In addition, his family organized the initial protests, which spawned a small riot. So even after they knew of his drug dealing, and know he tried to run over an officer, they still protested. What it boils down to is what has always happened: when a white police officer shoots a black man, they always scream racism and protest, regardless of, and before knowing, all the facts. It becomes racial because they make it racial all the while screaming it's racial. I wanted to add those two cents in as I live in that area and know the case first-hand. They knew about him. They knew what he was doing, and later it was even revealed that three folks there testified that they saw him reverse towards the officer. They just don't care.

No one seems to be talking about it, but that was some great driving by the officer in that Silverado to keep the situation contained. Note how after the initial contact is broken, the Silverado immediately reestablishes contact with the Explorer in a manner such that the truck can use its torque to continually pit-maneuver the SUV until it's off the road. Even after the shots ring out, the officer behind the wheel of that truck doesn't let the Explorer go anywhere. If the suspect had been allowed to escape, it would've been a high-speed chase that would've put countless innocent people at risk. Good on that officer.
