That's a great intro theme. I like the PSX one too but this one does a great job of creating the right atmosphere. 3:03 - Astronaut Ingrum! I love stuff set on "high frontier" style habitats like this. Very cool game, glad to have had the opportunity to play it all the way finally thanks to the patchers.

It's because PC98 outputs in 640x400. Basically double of a typical PS1 game which runs on 320x240. Basically doubling the clarity. The biggest limitation is the PC98 can only output 16 colors (Typically) but then, limitation breeds creativity and these artists are so impressive you wouldn't notice they're just 16 colors. 16 colors is more like the NES colors rather than Genesis colors!

Say what you want about the cel animation used in the console ports (which were also nice too), but there is just a certain aesthetic to the pixel art from this and other PC-98 games that I genuinely can't get enough of. I absolutely love how every little thing looks in it.

actually, in an interview with Hideo Kojima recently, he wanted Metal Gear Solid 4 to be the final game in the series completely and wanted to go and start other projects but he just cant get away from the franchise. However, one day he will go and make other projects other than metal gear

Hey theres a 9821 for sale and finding out about these things are confusing as hell. If a get a 9821 does it have compatibility with the 8801 / 9801 titles? Also how do you load 8801 titles if they do work as they come on traditional 5" and the 9801 seems to be only modern 3"

You can't use 8801 software on PC-98 hardware. PC-9821 was designed to run Windows but it can run 9801 software.

No MIDI or FM, Policenauts is full ADPCM (except for a couple of CD tracks).

I don't think there aren't many games like Policenauts (which specifically runs on PC-9821, with a unique and temperamental audio driver). As such, I'm not surprised it isn't supported by Hoot. Besides, the ADPCM rip would take several megabytes.

A few cutscenes like the intro use CD Audio, but most of the game relies on ADPCM for dialogues, sound effects and music (which are often mixed together).
