Some well meaning advice for the ASP troop commander: Get those speed limiters (130 mph) removed from the Chargers in your fleet that have them. The vehicle is designed by Chrysler Corporation to reach and sustain 165 mph, in police pursuit models with the V-8, and high speed tires. Some of the ASP Chargers do not have the speed limiter, and they will easily do 140 or 150, without breaking a sweat.

Cooked transmission did him in. Old CTS likely has over 100K miles, and if you don't service the transmission after 60-80K and run it hard, it's going to give up on you. Especially when you're pushing it thru the gears hard over and over like this guy was, increasing the heat with old dirty fluid. Not to mention the exhaust system is going to get seriously hot and is close to the transmission. The CTS has a very sturdy engine, I would have been shocked if it was a head gasket which is another possibility, but the windshield was too clean, so I doubt this was a problem. Plus, people usually do a better job changing engine oil, and the CTS has a good engine cooling system. Good luck with the "cop impersonator" lie. First: The state driver's manual tells you what to do if this might be a possibility; which you didnt do. Second: Nobody is impersonating cops in the well lit city and pursuing people at 140mph with multiple cars. Third: No doubt you thought you could get away, because you've driven this car hard and know how fast it goes. How'd this work out for you?

This is a good example of why you ought not try this. That Cadillac is a fast car but how long can it hold up to the pace? Apparently not as long as the Cruiser. The Cadillac burned down and the Cruiser was just stopped getting it's breath for another run. Nothing like having enough horsepower and a really good cooling system.
