The Metropolitan Police are facing widespread criticism following a number of high-profile issues in the recent past.
This week a new inquiry into the kidnap and murder of Sarah Everard has revealed her killer, Wayne Couzens, should "never have been a police officer" and that there needs to be a "radical overhaul" of police recruitment.
It comes after pressure from activist groups over the policing of pro-Palestine and pro-Israel marches in London, with some accusing the force of acting with fear and favour, rather than their pledge to act without either.
TalkTV's Kevin O'Sullivan and Alex Phillips are joined by Former Met Police Detective Peter Bleksley, who argues the organisation needs to be reformed.

The senior ranks by and large do very well in salary, lifestyle, and Pension from the job. You would think that there would be a group of them sufficiently perturbed by the way things have gone, to raise their concerns publicly. I was a West Mids officer, now retired on health grounds. During my service, my them young wife was sexually assaulted by my tutor constable. Nothing happened to him. He was moved and it was covered up. My wife had a breakxown as a result. I also found an on duty CID officer engaged in public toilet sex with a child. That too was covered up. Sexual offending is/ was rife in the police service, as are assaults against other officers who speak out. Its not just the Met.

As a former financial advisor with a high client value company, my Father was REQUIRED to take and pass "competancy exams" EVERY.SINGLE.YEAR despite having been a FA for OVER FORTY YEARS and considered an expert in his field by other members of his peers. Why the police who have the power to remove the freedoms of a person based on just what they say, are allowed to go UNVETTED FOR THIER ENTIRE CAREERS after the initial training is beyond my understanding. Something is VERY VERY WRONG with how our society is structured. It was actually the exams that eventually made him take retirement at 72 as he was sick of jumping through the hoops for the small amount of business he was doing by then.
