Not sure why but those biplanes (and tri-planes) of a former era are especially interesting.

My dad was at Kimpo Airbase in 1953. "Bed Check Charlie" would come over and they would take to the trenches, not so much from anything that he would drop but from all the AA fire coming back to earth.

Yes, people often forget about the old adage : what goes up, must come down!

I flew on that Boeing Stearman in Peter Jackson's collection. Have a video up on my little channel. One of the best afternoons in my life. There is nothing like riding in an open cockpit. Add to that the stunning scenery of tall cliffs on the ocean. My pilot was great he 'straffed' a train passing below, set up the approach yelling bang bang into the coms and shaking the wings.

The Stearman is not actually part of his Collection. Cool ride never-the-less.

The Fleet Air Arm shouldn't have scrapped the Swordfish, they could have had dogfights with them.

I feel sure rhat hearing them approaching would be demoralising for ground troops. Knowing they are on their way but not knowing when they will arrive and what they will deliver when do would certainly be cause gor a sleepless night .

Is that a Kinner engine?
@HistAvFilmUnitАй бұрын
Shevestov engine (I think that's the correct spelling).
@mothmagic1Ай бұрын
Shvetsov is correct though probably a copy of an American engine of the period.
