Chicago Gyrl It’s illegal to deny service base on race, age, physical condition, etc. There are plenty of people we would like to deny service to but we could get a sue case or some other troubles. What’s worst than a kid? An elderly person who have diabetes or on blood thinner. Extremely difficult and scary to work on them. I once have a teenage with tics and other mentally challenge issue who could not stay still and violently yell and jerking her hands every now and then. Still can’t deny service to them. Parents are dumb to be putting their child at such risk. I would not let any human cut my 3 yrs old nails. Accident happen.

I agree 100% with everything you said. Especially booking removals and add ons. I work at a spa were we don't do acrylic, just gel and polish. Our biggest problem lately is when some one comes in with NexGen. And either don't say anything or book it as gel. That shit is not gel! And takes forever to remove. If I have time I'll do it, otherwise they are just getting a pedi. People just don't get how big of an inconvenience it is. Oh, and I have another one. Don't help me put your shoes on. I know how to put sandals on with out messing up your toes. Don't pick up your foot or try to spread your toes. I got this.

And my 5 year old sister is very mature for her age and she hasn't had a manicure or pedicure, but she would be VERY well behaved. This was a hoot to me as a client!! The one thing seriously I have a comment about. I don’t know how people run their book and I feel like it’s you (the nail tech) job to ask the person on the phone if they will be needing their old set removed. Problem solved.
@polishedbyamy3 жыл бұрын
I totally get what you’re saying. However, the nail tech wouldn’t know that you have enhancements on that need to be removed, if you book a full set. So it’s important to book a removal service if you want that done within your appointment timeframe. It would be helpful if my booking site had an option where customers could answer pre-booking questions before picking their time!

I'm sorry I didn't see this comment for so long! I use a foot paddle that has different grits on each side (one is more coarse than the other). If the client has calluses or super dry skin, I'll soak the area in a callus remover cream first and then exfoliate with the paddle :)

I USE BABY FEET... THEN 2 WEEKS LATER I GET A PEDI
@Call-me-Al6 жыл бұрын
karen nr you should be regularly gently exfoliating your feet (e.g. brush them at the end of a shower), and moisturizing them daily (which makes it easier for the dead skin to naturally drop off through daily friction e.g. walking and in the shower when you do give them a bit of a scrub). If your skin grows unusually fast then you may want to use a moisturizer with a mild to strong chemical exfoliant, depending on if it's just a little bit faster or if it's straight up genetic mutation caused way too fast.

You can take them off at home the same way they should at a salon. Pick up a bottle of acetone from the store and soak your nails for 15 minutes. It will soften them enough to scrape them off. This way your nail won't get damaged underneath :)

If not using the "cheese grater" what do you recommend or di with regard to handling very rough feet skin?
@polishedbyamy Жыл бұрын
There are many products on the market that soft skin and remove calluses on the feet. I like to use a callus remover and let it soak for a few minutes. I then follow up with the foot file that has about 120 grit paper to get a smooth feel!
@andygray563 Жыл бұрын
@@polishedbyamy yes I agree that sand paper gives a superior smooth finish. There are some people (especially men] that have super rough feet that you would be there for ages sanding just with paper. I always though razor shavers or cheese graters with the calus cream were just a faster 'first step' towards removing that dead skin (equivalent say to 20 grit sand paper). From this start finer sanding type tools should be used to achieve a smooth finish. Thank you for all your great content and advice.

That can be an awkward situation. It seems like the nail tech just wasn't being very careful when using the drill. You could ask them next time to just soak them off for the removal instead of filing. If they won't do that, you can tell them you prefer a gentle touch with the drill :)

*Htx* Layy for reallllll I went like a couple times and personally I have extremely sweaty hands like I’m talking sometimes dripping and one time even though the guy was nice about it which is a positive he also admitted to it and was like “sweaty hands 👀🤚🏻💦😂” and turned on the fan it was soooo embarrassing and I suggest before going just try relaxing and not thinking about your hands about to sweat, don’t know if this well help it works for me and I’m like 14 ;-;

Most nail salons take appointments and walk in's, so it's whatever you want to do. Nail tech's don't care what your nails look like when you come to us, because it's our job to make them fabulous! Go get pampered girl! :)

I've you never been to a nail salon, how much time do you have to prepare after you get there but before you get served? I remember hair salons have books of pics of hair styles, and know nails as salons have those swatches, any books of nail styles or descriptions of artificial nails you could read?
@polishedbyamy4 жыл бұрын
I usually spend about 10 minutes or so discussing with my clients exactly what they want. Sometimes we will look online for nail art inspiration and designs!

@@polishedbyamy I've seen videos here on youtube, but nothing really, comprehensive/thorough enough, it only needsto show the procedure for one nail, since you'll usually be getting the same polish/artificial nail on each finger.

Omg some people are full time single parents at work they can’t afford to leave there kids somewhere else or they can’t like if u agree
@ol37706 жыл бұрын
Tiana Minott I totally understand that. I havne seen exhauted moms coming the nail salon hoping to have some good time for herself and i feel them. Not every parent can afford baby sitting all the time but still need sometime to relax or treat themselves nicely sometimes right. Just make sure that you keep an eye on your kids and remind or correct them what they can and cannot do so they dont bother anyone.

I`m a beautican myself and works in a busy beauty salon mainly working on nails. I actually love children but i think she is on about the behaviour of children, it can be quite a dangerous place for children if they cannot behave appropriately and it slows down the service if your client is destracted by her badly behaved children. I fully understand not everyone can get a babysitter, bringing your children should be a last resort
@SpoofyAnn6 жыл бұрын
Tiana Minott mmmm can’t afford to get kids looked after, but can afford to get nails done ?
@OGWorld-kv8ul6 жыл бұрын
Trish Its most likely not a matter of cant afford. Its a matter of I don't want to pay someone else, or I can use that money to buy my children something. People who make that comment usually (key word usually) don't have kids themselves so therefore they don't understand when a parent says they cant afford it. I say I am broke all the time but in reality I just have something else I would like to buy. As long as the child is not a rambunctious child and can sit quietly on their phone or tablet. I don't see an issue with it. I used to go with my mom when I was a child and it was fascinating to me. I received my first full set when I was in the 5th grade for my birthday.

I've never had acrylic nails I've thought about it a free times but afraid it will ruin my nails...is it really damaging or am I over thinking things
@polishedbyamy6 жыл бұрын
The acrylic isn't damaging at all! The damage happens when a nail tech doesn't prep your nails right before they put them on, and when they are removing them wrong. If you find yourself a quality nail tech, you won't have to worry about that and you'll have a great experience! :)

You're not supposed to shave at least 48hrs or something like that before a pedicure due to risk of bacteria because your top layer of skin has been scraped over with a razor blade causing microscopic openings in the skin....
@polishedbyamy5 жыл бұрын
You're exactly right! A lot of people don't know this!
@hey.gorgeous8 жыл бұрын
I was never told at school that a client had to wait 48 hours after shaving, before being able to get a pedicure. Why is that now? I've gone myself to get a pedicure right after shaving. Is it bad?
@polishedbyamy8 жыл бұрын
It's because you get micro-abrasions on your legs from shaving. If you are then exposed to an unsanitary pedicure bowl or jet spa, you have the possibility of getting an infection. If you go to a salon that plays by the rules when it comes to disinfection, you'll be fine! :)
@hey.gorgeous8 жыл бұрын
+Polished By Amy Awesome! Thanks for the reply! 😄 I figured that might be it, at least I'm informed now, and I know what else to ask. Love your channel, been learning lots and getting myself ready for when I'm licensed and what to expect, some what. Thank you once again for replying!
@isanaallday97446 жыл бұрын
Most of the salons now put the plastic thing in the jet tub before putting water in it so that's ok right.
@khanhvinhct6 жыл бұрын
Cher A no it’s not. If your get a spa pedicure that comes with scrub to exfoliate your skin, your skin will get irritated, causes rashes, a big chance to get infection. Liners help prevent the infection from previous clients, but you can get infection from dirt after your get the pedicure too.

I don’t get it. Do you have to shave your legs for a pedicure? Some people (not me) just don’t shave their legs, I didn’t think that was mandatory.
@polishedbyamy6 жыл бұрын
No, nothing is mandatory. It's just suggested that if you ARE going to shave, do it a couple days before your pedicure to help prevent against infections from the foot bath water. It's basically just a precaution :)
@ivyjunesmith6 жыл бұрын
So don't take your old nails off yourself, have a professional do it.. but don't come in asking for a new set if you have ones on that need to be replaced. Makes sense
@polishedbyamy6 жыл бұрын
I thought I explained it pretty well. Don't pop off your nails because you'll ruin them. When you call to book your next set, book a removal along with it. Simple :)

You are still considered a child even though you are 11. Even if your are 16 yrs old you are still technically a child. You should not take that offensively really. I wish I could be a child again. But thank you for explaining what you meant about the whole touching of the nail. I wouldn't like being touched on my freshly done nails either.
