Polishing Dice: How much can we get away with using a Dremel? | Polishing compound vs. zona papers

Tired of slaving through every Zona polishing paper just to polish your dice? Wondering why your dice don't have that glassy sheen that your favorite dice have? It might be because the pros use polishing compound to finish their dice. So this had me wondering, "How many zona papers can I replace with polishing compound and a dremel?" I'm going to put it to the test!

Honestly when I started pouring this year, I already had wet/dry drywall sandpaper in 800, 1500,and 3000 grit, and a dremel, so I picked up 3800 grit automotive polish compound and didn’t start using Zona papers at all until about a week ago. Even with them, 100% the polishing compound just leaves such a nice finish. Tho the cotton polishing pads for the dremel wear out too. Tho I want my dice or dice I make for family/friends to look super fresh, so I’ll never give up the dremel and compound. Solid system especially if you already have sanding supplies and or a dremel, decent money saver then.

Great video, very informative. Hope you were wearing your protective gear as that polish looks like it went everywhere! I have a mini polishing tool and some compound, I’m going to try this with a fluffy!

ive never used a dremel tool before, though after this video it looks enticing. is it fairly easy to accidentally round off edges using that thing?

The only time I've ever noticed a slight rounding happening is on the corners of the d6. Those corners being such perfect 90 degree angles, it has an easier time making a slight roundness to them. but they still look mostly sharp.

I have no idea why, but I'm unable to get these results with a dremel :( i have a polishing tip, polishing paste, compound... And they still look matt :(

Taking the dice after polishing them moving them around so that no one can really see a side by side comparison doesn't help at all.
