Meguiar’s has a “Mirror Glaze” series polish with a grit rating from 0 to 12. Very helpful. For marketing purposes they have added Ultimate, Ultra, Scratch Remover. Its the same stuff just in fancy bottles.

This is the most versatile product I have on hand. When finishing, the gloss meets or exceeds the results I get from imported German polishes. For light defect removal, I use it with my favorite foam cutting pad (green Hex Logic, or Buff and Shine), and it delivers the perfect balance of cut and gloss. For even more cut use microfiber pads. My favorite was the original Rupes Yellow, but It's been changed and is terrible now. The Meguiar's microfiber finishing disc, and Buff And Shine microfiber work great with Ultimate Polish. I even find it to cut and finish better than 3D One. Too bad the Ultimate abrasives, and liquid wax wasn't available in larger sizes. Even the 64oz bottles would be great.

How often do you clean the polishing pad on the DA? After polishing each panel? After you've polished the vehicle? And how do you clean the polishing pad? Same question for a cutting pad during the compound process. I enjoy the videos. I'm a beginner, so they're perfect for what I'm trying to learn and understand.

Typically with the foam pads you want to clean them every couple panels or so. As you can imagine product loads up the pad more as you go so this is even more important the further into the job you are. Just flip the machine upside down turn it on and use a towel and a couple fingers to clean off the excess from the pad. This is called cleaning on the fly (as you work). When you are done with the job the best way to really clean them is simply to launder them just as you would your clothes. Not with your clothes but the same way. 😀 Just make sure you do not use fabric softener in the wash cycle. Hope that helps!

Whether or not you need to compound depends entirely on the condition of the paint and the defects in it. If you have swirl marks, scratches, water spots, oxidation, or other stains etched into the paint you will likely want to compound first. It is not always 100% mandatory to use a foam applicator but it will apply the product better and is less likely to leave towel marks which can happen when using a poor quality towel.

Yes, if you so choose, you can use the polish each time before you wax. 👍 The Ultimate Polish is not a compound and is incredibly mild. There is no concern for the safety of your clear coat.

That is a question you would need to ask the manufacturer of the coating as you would need to follow their instructions on proper prep and application. Typically for proper application of a coating the surface has to be entirely bare prior to application.

Swirl marks are often more difficult to remove than one might suspect. The Ultimate Polish is incredibly mild and primarily a polish designed to bring great shine/gloss. It has limited ability to remove defects in paint. It may work to remove swirl marks in some cases however it is possible you will need something more effective like our Ultimate Compound.

How many and what steps can be variable depending on the condition of your paint and your desires for it. You can certainly use the compound followed by the wax and still get good results. Polish is a optional step for many depending on those other factors mentioned. There are even cleaner/waxes for those who desire only one step. You would still use the Polish first but if you choose the spray version of the Hybrid Ceramic Wax you will need to wet the car again after the polishing step to follow the recommended application. Of course at that point you can simply skip the car washing solution and simply rinse the car quickly to get it wet. That is correct there is generally no need to do an IPA wipe down between steps. Yes, you will typically need to clean your pads "on the fly" as you work your way around the vehicle. Depending on the pads you are using you may use a towel and/or compressed air to do this quickly every couple panels or so.

You always polish before waxing. When applying the polish by hand you want to apply it a small section (1-2 sq ft) at a time with a foam applicator pad and wipe off immediately with a high-quality microfiber towel before it dries. When applying the Gold Class Wax you will also use a foam applicator pad and microfiber towel but you will spread the product to the whole car before wiping off as the wax needs to dry to a haze before wiping off.

Yes, Ultimate Polish can certainly be used without compounding but understand that if you have much in the way of defects that need to be removed the Ultimate Polish may not do the trick as it's primary function is creating gloss/shine. It only has very mild defect removing capabilities.

I have been pleasantly surprised with the defect removal abilities of Ultimate Polish. When I use it to boost gloss, I use blue Buff and Shine or Hex Logic pads. To get more cut I use the Green.l foam. I've done, and do a LOT of "one step" enhancements polishes using Ultimate Polish on green foam pads, and get excellent results. In my experience, I get better results from Ultimate Polish, and M205 than 3D One. Better cut, and better finishing.

Nice vid. But when I use the ultimate polish it’s almost impossible to buff the polish off in some sections. I was using an electric buff and a towel. Any tips?

The most common issue that would cause difficulty in removal would be letting the product dry. You really only should be doing a couple square feet at a time and then wiping off immediately. Ultimate polish should not be allowed to dry at all. Polishing is optional and primarily depends on the color and condition of your paint as well as your personal desires for it. How long any protection/wax lasts is highly variable and depends on a number of factors related to the condition of the paint, previous prep, and the environmental elements the vehicle is exposed to. That being said for most daily drivers we recommend you wax at least 3-4 times per year.

Maybe we are not understanding the question but it would not make any sense to polish after already compounding, polishing, and waxing. Not sure why you would do that. You have already polished during the polishing step and that takes place before waxing regardless.

Sanding is a very professional process and requires a machine, knowledge, different products, pads, etc. This is not something you want to do on a car of value without fully thinking it through, gathering all the right materials, and gaining some training/experience. The short answer is no, a polish will not remove sanding marks.

Yes, you should prime a new pad before use. Also make sure to use the product sparingly, work only a small section (2' X 2') at a time, and removing immediately. And of course make sure you are using good microfiber towels for removal.

Depends entirely on what you are trying to do. Ultimate Compound is designed to remove light to moderate defects in paint. So if you are trying to remove scratches, swirl marks, water spots, oxidation, or other types of stains/etchings in your paint Ultimate Compound would usually be the right choice. If you are looking to provide shine/gloss to your paint and have already removed most or all of the defects the Ultimate Polish would be a better choice. That being said they are often used in tandem. Ultimate Polish followed by Ultimate Polish. Black Wax is an "all in one" cleaner wax, offering mild defect removal, gloss & protection in one step, making the process quicker & easier. That is a very broad question. There is no wax specifically designed for silver colored paint or any other color. Paint is paint regardless of the color and keep in mind that almost all automobiles for nearly 3 decades now have been clear coated (clear paint on top) so you are never really touching the color coat anyway.

Polish and glaze are usually synonymous. There is no wax in the Ultimate Polish as it is primarily a polish/glaze with polishing oils and very mild abrasives to remove minor defects in paint. All polishes by nature will "fill" to some extent.
