Political Teachings of Sikhism - Oxford University Conference - 2 of 2

Second of 2 part lecture series on the Spiritual and Political teachings of Sikhi, the wisdom of the Sikh Gurus. These were delivered at the Discovering Sikhism Youth Conference at Oxford university on the 20th October 2012.

Had A Question, Although I found the idea of putting money away and having it gain Interest a very good idea. I was wondering if it would be right according to the Khalsa Panth to make money off collected interest knowing the way banks make their money?

1) You only assume "our institutions are ineffective", per Romulus, Plato, Machiavelli, & William Paley, they are functioning as designed. 2) Meritocracy (Timocracy) is an element of The Republic(fascism); unless "motherhood" is the highest merit (honor), which ends up a gendacracy. 3)a Khalsa court should only contain women & girls (playing off a gendacracy). 4)you mentioned nukes... To "rule" not by governance, but by merit, making the turban synonymous with Anti-Nuclear is the key. I bullied Sikh boys as a boy; pulled turbans, kicked, & ridiculed. I'm sure it's not any easier. But for those Sikh children to be members, leaders, of an army bent on saving humanity from The Nuclear Castes' M.A.D.ness, changes more than just how they feel. I was raised a fascist wolf, & acted it out. Most kids know WMDs are bad, parents force them to change their perspective from their heart to their minds, & conform. The turban can become a safe haven for all those drones, who know something, but have never seen alive. Let Sikh mothers declare war on nukes, as mothers. Let Sikh children declare the right of all children to live. And let Sikh men pledge allegiance to follow devotedly. In 6 months, in L.A. something is going to happen that will poison hundreds of Sikhs & 100,000s humans, with untold effects for centuries, called "Santa Susana Field Laboratory Clean Up". The children & elderly will be the most vulnerable. "Valley Sikh Temple" will be destroyed among the mass. Prove to me you can manifest Halemi Raj & actually do something, or die trying. To free India you must defeat nukes first. They rule all humanity, as gods. Can the 11th Guru defeat evil gods & save the planet? Or is it all just poetry? Only action can say.

I think sikhi is actually against Raj. They have misunderstood the concept of Raj karega Khalsa. Gurbanis tells us to give up Raj/Kingdoms/Ruling, if we have to live in god's hukam/will. Fighting against injustice & to create peace is not the same as ruling. If we mix the religion & politics at the top, it is guaranteed to ruin both. Sikh's main goal should always be to learn gurbani & teach others & the rest just follows. It's also not meant for all, but for few. Everything else is in god's control including the halimi raj & everything else. You only have the power to help yourself first. I don't think giving birth & becoming a mother makes u eligible for anything except being mother. Merit would depend on your knowledge, wisdom, past work, & how the community judges you for the work you might be selected. It would still be democratic if they are elected by the public(well educated public)

In history sikh won delhi many time to save people from tyrants and than gave back like it is nothing we don't hold worldly thing dearly, we only want to make this world better place know people in power is oppressing other with their wealth alot of rich people's get away after doing anything and if there is a khalsa raj that will never happen

@@gillharshgill8315 this is very true the world as we know it today is corrupt, poor are powerless yet the rich seem to only get richer in Khalsa Raj everybody will be treated as equals everything happens on god’s will and god’s will alone we cannot speed or decrease Khalsa raj the lord shall decide when the time will come, there is a reason why the Khalsa has never been defeated not back when Muslim emperors ruled not even when the whole of the Indian government attempted to destroy Sikhi (1984) this power it comes from the gurbani all the great sikhs that have been shaheed only makes the panth stronger.
