I'd say fine Oak Bay a ton of money and use it towards afford housing. If they want to keep their community the same then they should be able to afford the fine too offset other affordable housing projects.

Oak Bay is beautiful RICH neighbourhood. Keep HIgh density out of IT. Those are beautiful properties that should remain that way. One should aspire to be successful enough to own one for their families.

A district should not be forced to add housing when it’s clearly not needed. Plus it only decreases your property value and takes away your community that has been built

Victoria is the second highest area in Canada, surpassing Toronto, for rental prices. Housing prices are in the top 5 of Canada. Vacancy rates are at records low. The CRD, which oak Bay is part of whether they like it or not, absolutely has to build more housing. The community that you built is one where everybody suffers to afford to live. A pretty terrible community if you ask me.

@@MrBAMackay There no WORK there unless you have a family business 130 years old, are local university and connected, and government jobs. Theres SOME constrution and contracting, but no enough to absorb the lower population of labourers. Victoria has ALWAYS shorted housing as it wants the great unwashed to be in Vancovuer.

If you want to play that game, where do Oak Bay residents get their gasoline? Not in oak Bay It's an exclusionary mindset in an exclusive neighbourhood that makes everybody else fix the problems they contribute to.
