Thing is though Nigel handled it well and shows you just how tough he is to take the bias crap and stay calm and also smile and joke a little. what you need in a leader is that resilience, if any of the others would have had the same treatment they would have flustered but they were allowed to talk and reply properly not being asked a question over a question with no time to reply properly, as always no respect for Nigel, but a damn lot of the people in this country do respect him and hopefully that shows in the election results.

Yes....... because British people have a thousand year culture of looking up at people leading rather than look at themselves and how they will manage the mess around them. A normal regular Englishman knows more about tactical football than how to make the area they live 1% better...... this is the English, clueless about there neighbourhood economy but can argue the revolutionary tactics of the Real Madrid squad during the early 2000s....

Sounds more like "Party before country" - he is changing his policies, not because he believes in them, but because they keep losing elections - so they just swing wherever the votes lead rather then stand on any ideals. So now they are just scooping up all the votes that the cons lost for being a bunch of incompetent fools. .... i.e. they would sell their mothers for an extra vote.

@@maxwellboyne2770 But the wealth generated is being hoarded and "more productivity" will just result in more being hoarded by the super rich. Trickle down economics doesn't work and has never worked. Those proposed tax increases aren't about taxing everyone or even taxing the super rich to the hilt they're about bringing some kind of equalising force to the economy. Starmer's current tax plans will just lead to a continuance if not furtherance of austerity.

There are multiple interruptions of Keir Starmer during this interview and yet some commentators below state that there are none. Is that where the bias lies rather in Nick Robinson who I think has done a good job in all of his interviews of this type so far (i.e. they are biased against Keir Starmer and want to present him as getting an easy ride)? Far better then the TV debates which just let candidates prattle on without adequate challenge.

Not a hope in hell, you will NEVER get my vote Mr Stamer. You talked over Beth Rigby, practically ignoring her on the Sky debate. If you couldn't listen to her, why the hell would you listen to the public? You will at the moment but you NEED the votes, when you are in no 10 it will be another matter. You are no different than Rishi Sunak and this country needs change. Anyone who can see through the two main parties, needs to vote reform and get rid of you 'not fit for purpose' politicians.

I agree with other commenters; Robinson is much more deferential in this interview and not interrupting continually like he did with Farage. Starmer says he's going to "change the planning regulations" which means local authorities will be permitted to grant permission for great swathes of our countryside to be built over - and building in back gardens. For the 'newcomers'. Robinson's stating that governments end up not doing what they said in their manifesto "because events change". Nothing to do with lying through their teeth, then?
