Politics is always divisive: In a democracy, 'you must be divisive otherwise you're selling nothing'

The leftist coalition has taken the most seats in parliament, with at least 181. Macron’s centrists have more than 160 seats. Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Rally have 143 seats after dominating in the first round. There is no majority for anyone, so the unpopular Macron will have to form alliances to run the government. France now faces the stunning prospect of a hung parliament and political paralysis in a pillar of the European Union. The Paris Olympics are less than three weeks away. From observation globally - there's difference in politics between "selling" and "delivering", and politicians who sell division, rarely deliver what they promised. "you must be divisive otherwise you're selling nothing' is the motto of politicians who polarised the public debate to the point where people don't listen to each other, and can't stand each other. And look where it got French? Nowhere.

The American term "Republic" doesn't say anything. A Republic can either be a democracy (the majority decides) or an oligarchy (a minority decides). Which one is it?
