LoL, To hear a Tory bemoan some Labour Volunteers when a former Tory Prime Minister actively attended the Republican Convention and campaigned for Donald Trump!! It seems the hypocrisy of the Tories has not been burned out of them by being in opposition. Let's keep them out in opposition for as long as possible.

I hate the Tories. Let me just be clear about that to start with. But how pathetic have we gotten as a left, when we ignore the point and respond with whataboutism. His point was that it was organised by the actual Labour party, not as "some Labour Volunteers". The fact is, Labour and the Tories are basically the same people right now. Doing the same minging bullshit being in government affords in the house, of not responding to criticism beyond "well you done this thing, so it's fine". It's fucking embarrassing.

@@MrMonk112 So you don't think it's a good idea to try to openly encourage the election of a more cooperative and "left" (lol everything's relative) leader of our biggest Ally, rather than do backhanded interference the way pro-Brexit and pro-Russia bodies have influenced our politics? I do think it's a good thing, and pointing out hypocrisy is not whataboutism.

I would assume your one of the ones who has been calling farage out for going to America, yet remain silent of Labour doing far worse (who are actually in government, and not opposition). It’s looking like trumps going to win, this isn’t a good luck. The main point is the Labour Party needs to stop acting like it’s in opposition. The hypocrisy is on the side of Labour for much of this, they are doing everything they called out the Tories for doing, and worse. Who knew, they are as bad as each other. At some point, people might realise they’ve been suckered in with more of the same.

Who is going to pay the reparations? are the African countries going to pay for selling Africans to European traders? Are Arabs going to pay for trading slaves for 1000 years? are all countries going to be paying or just Britain? Slavery was endemic all over the world on every continent. Will the families of "The West African Squadron" get reparations for being killed while trying to stop slave traders and ships from all the countries still trading slaves? The problem with all this talk is what is the starting point ( over a 1000 years ago maybe?) and what is the finishing point? and are "ALL COUNTRIES" involved including some who are calling for payments going to be expected to pay. The people who made money should pay maybe but again how far do you go back? Viking slave market in Dublin? Roman slave markets? Barbary Pirate slave markets? what about the Arabs? you seem to have jumped on a bandwagon without thinking it through.

The 54-member state of the Commonwealth of Nations was founded on December 11, 1931, back then it was called the British Commonwealth. The Commonwealth of Nations is one of the most useless and worthless organization and I challenge anyone to show how being a member of this dog and pony show contributes to our lives or our development. What does it add to our daily existence? The Commonwealth exists with no sense of direction, no sense of purpose and exist in limbo. There are no social and economic benefits being a member of this Commonwealth and it does not even offer protection from attacks, just ask Grenada. To say it is useless and worthless is an understatement, it only exists to make members of the British Royal family and delusional British people feel good and nostalgic about days of old.

I am unsure if this had a few typos, but as a former staffer, most staffers do not earn £40,000 or £50,000 due to the restrictions on MP office budgets. You have a limited budget for the whole office and because of the amount of work involved, you try and stuff as many people into the team as possible. As such, staffers tend to earn towards the lower end of the IPSA (Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority) guidelines. Around £22,000 for interns up to £38,000 for senior parliamentary assistants (these are London numbers, so the amounts are lower outside London). You can earn more, but as I said, higher wages mean fewer people responding to the hundreds of emails/correspondents received every day. Anyway... sorry for the mini-essay. Have a lovely day!

Ok, I understand that paying reparations might not be a viable option with regards to our economic situation. Why not set up a special fund for the descendants of slaves, to help them get mortgages, tuition fees, public schools places etc. Moreover, while it would definitely help them, it would also be an investment into the UK's future.
