Well said Sir! I have never served, but I joined the armed forces pages on facebook during the last general election, fully expecting to see posts and comments about how badly the tories treat veterans and those still serving. The information isn't exactly difficult to find. Instead I found a seething mass of right wing, gullible chumps continuously making utterly stupid comments about Labour and Corbyn, and still they are much the same with regard to Starmer. I found a few decent guys there, of course - and I'm sure even the tory voting ones are probably alright people if you don't discuss politics with them, but after a while I started to notice a lot of them were pretty much repeating Daily Mail headlines, practically word for word sometimes. I left after a while, because I really want to have great respect for our armed forces personel, but I just can't find it in me to respect somebody who is calling me a 'loony leftie' and has a profile full of right wing nonsense, offensive memes about Lab / LD / SNP etc politicians and I'm afraid to say - quite a lot of nationalistic racist tripe. I came to the suspicion that when our squaddies get up in the morning there must be a large free pile of right wing tabloid rags available to them or something. I found it quite upsetting to see how our armed forces are clearly buying into every trope of Johnson's blatant attempt to stay in power by appealing to xenophobia and ignorance. So yeah, sorry about the massive message, but I was pleased to see your comment - even if it did remind me of a pretty unpleasant experience!

There’s something seriously wrong with a country when people working full-time cannot afford even basic things such as housing and food. There’s something sinister about a government that knows this and refuses to do anything about it.
@platosbeard44492 жыл бұрын
Nothing sinister nothing unusual. That’s what capitalism does when it reaches its late stage form. For centuries, the British working class were kept comfortable through the colonial and neo-colonial period on the back of the extraction from, and misery of the periphery. As colonialism is now facing unprecedented challenges and is in full retreat, the misery has come home to roost. Now the working class must fight back and never again enter into pernicious compromises with the parasitic ruling class.
