Stephen Fry: Why I quit Twitter and why Starmer's first 100 days have been 'disastrous'

Stephen Fry has told LBC that the first 100 days of the Labour government have been "disastrous".
Actor and comedian Fry, 67, told LBC's Tonight with Andrew Marr that it was "a mystery that Labour could have allowed themselves to get into this mess."
Fry, who was previously a longtime Labour supporter and even appeared in a party political broadcast in 1993, said Labour's current plight seemed "extraordinary... because you think you're in opposition, you've got a bit of time to get things together."
He explained his reasoning behind leaving his 13 million followers behind on Twitter and leaving the platform, citing Elon Musk as the primary reason.
Fry, who is well-known as a Remainer, also took aim at Brexit. He took Austrian citizenship last month, which he was able to do because of a new rule in the country that allows people whose family was persecuted by the Nazis to become citizens.
He told Andrew: "My grandmother was Austrian and it's partly a finger up to Brexit. Obviously, to have a Schengen group passport is a good thing."

He's avoided it but is he doing so due to his own political views (whatever they are on the EU) or because he's scared of a backlash (still!) from Brexit voters and the right-wing tabloids? That's the bit I'm unsure of.....how much of his current positions is what he believes and how much is to keep criticism away? I would but I never wanted out in the first place so I'm not a great measure of things. I have something in the back of my memory about him ruling it out in the first term at some point pre-election but that was among other measures he's since stepped away from. Ask yourself the quesiton. Why do people vote for the Right in Austia? Why do people vote for Reform? Why do people vote for Brexit. Because they're sick of the Political Elite. Sick of not being able to vote out an EU Commission. Sick of ECHR and EJC. Listen to the people, Govern from the Centre and abide by Referendums. Simple.
