Polk brining out bangers. But the Bentley just hit different for me. Even that FS120 was hitting nicely. Missed the FS150 in there (But unfair with the 8" woofers). Great Review Morne

Very nice review! I appreciate your effort in trying to explain what YOU heard after each sample... instead of during. I found the 150's hit nicely as one other reviewer said, but the overall best balanced sound through my headphones was the 250's. With that said, they all sounded great. Any would do.

Hi there, thanks for the review. As of writing, my R600 got delivered yesterday, brand new! I have been looking around a lot for quite some time for some new speakers, and this was a deal I just could not pass up. I got a pair of R600 for 625 euros, an R300 center for 150 euros, and a pair of R100 for 250 euros. I thought it was the steal of the century. It is a wholesale website here in Holland that sold them for that cheap. R100/R300 are made this year, it says on the box, but the R600 was made in 01/2022. Does that matter for speakers if they were in storage for that long? They had never been opened, by the way. (By the way, I am in love with them.)

Cool I've been looking for a channel that has checked out both the Polk R600 and Monitor Audio Sivler 300. I've been researching speakers for months for my first real hi-fi set up and definitely narrowed my choices down to these two. Which would you consider to be superior of these two Polk R600 vs Monitor Audio Sivler 300?? I love the look of the MA's better but I'm far more concerned with Sound quality. I'll likely be powering them with either Yamaha AS-701 integrated or Rotel A12 or possibly Rotel A14 integrated (if I can swing the extra $$ that is). Any advice is much appreciated. Cheers.
@homecinemaking3972 жыл бұрын
Cant go wrong with either. Monitor has more pedigree and can be slightly forward sounding if you like that sort of thing. The polk reserve are just so sweet with more laid back and balanced sound. Cant help but feel the polks are more bang for buck. But if you can try audition them side by side? Also try stretch for the rotel both of these like power👌
@jamesmoore48272 жыл бұрын
@@homecinemaking397 Thanks! I'm in Sydney and there is no where that sells both to audition both side to side. Just one more question if I may? You said go for the Rotel because they like power? The Yamaha AS-701 is 100wpc while the Rotel A12 is 60wpc and Rotel A14 80wpc. Am I missing something here? I'm kinda new to the audiophile world so please excuse my ignorance lol. Cheers.
@homecinemaking3972 жыл бұрын
@@jamesmoore4827 yes first rule in audio is dont look at power ratings. Looks at quality of components used. Example a rotel rated 60w will be under rated and should be more like 80-100w on a bench with a high damping factor. Yamaha not so much and are more run of the mill equipment now days. Only the top Yamies are very nice 1000 and 2000. I know from testing that Monitor loves Rotel and Marantz👌 polks are more forgiving and work nicely on most amps. Then you will get class A or Valve amps doing 20-100w but they are beast amps in a class of there own, but hugely demanding on power consumption.
@jamesmoore48272 жыл бұрын
@@homecinemaking397 Thanks heaps for the advice you've given here. Being somewhat of a newbie to real hi-fi can be rather daunting at times. If I may ask just one more question about amplification? I've been getting conflicting information about how much power I'll need to properly drive these speakers. Is say for example 60wpc in say the Rotel A12 enough to to fully drive either MA Silver 300 or Polk R600? It states on their website that the recommend power handling for the MA's is 80-200 watts and most integrated amplifiers (in my price range) are no higher than 60wpc except for the Yamaha. For example the Rotel A12 60wpc, Marantz pm6007 45wpc, Audiolab 600a 50wpc, Rega Brio 50wpc. Nad C338 50wpc, and even the more expensive Cambridge Audio CXA61 is only 60wpc. And different people have told me different things on hi-fi forums from only needing no more than 40-50wpc to absolutely needing over 100 and up to 200wpc? So yeah I'm more than a little confused lol about all this. Sorry to be hassle but if you could point me in the right direction it's so much appreciated. And awesome channel btw I'm loving the unboxing, demo and review videos. I think I've really caught the audiophile bug lol. Cheers.

@@jamesmoore4827 ok let me put it this way…any of the proper brands will work, also look at the bluesound powernode latest gen. I dont know what other things you are into so i can make a good example but lets take boxing. Everyone at fight night can fight but the more up you go in the night the better the control and experience becomes even if they are the same on paper. So in s nutshell if this bug has bitten you start where you can, this will not be your last amp, you will enjoy it for a while then sell it on and upgrade. Sometime even downgrade just to go up again later. Its part of the hobby to see what works and what not. What i found is Rotel and Marantz/Denon work on almost anything. NAD and Bluesound using same amps they dont like the European speakers but very good on efficient speakers. Yamaha sits in the middle. So if you are new get the best deal for your pocket and enjoy it till the next jump👌

I am also using Emotiva BasX A3 for my Front Stage (it gives 140w for all three chennals at 8ohms), I want to ask is 140w is enough power to Driver these Polk R600 towers or I should go for more powerful Emotiva XPA-3 it provides 275w for all three Chennals & 300w for two chennals at 8ohms. BasX A3 is also driving my R600 but Some times I feel it's getting strain, & some time when I want it to get louder it doesn't get as louder as I want it to be, Because Polk Reserve series are 4 Ohm's speakers & bit difficult to drive.
