what is the difference between ceiling and wall speaker? round and square? or do they sound different?
@crutchfield6 жыл бұрын
Typically in-wall speakers separate the tweeter and woofer, allowing the listener to hear more natural high & low separation with the speakers mounted at ear-level. In-ceiling speakers generally combine the woofer and tweeter into the same basket; with the idea being you don't get the same type of high & low separation with speakers mounted overhead in your ceiling. For more details or to discuss further, feel free to contact an Advisor directly from the Crutchfield website: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc000/support/ContactUs.aspx Thanks! --Crutchfield

How do these speakers perform in comparison to the Sonos In-Ceiling speakers?
@crutchfield2 жыл бұрын
They do not have a sound signature that Sonos knows which means the Sonos TruePlay room optimizing software will not work with Polk speakers. The Sonos speakers can handle more power and produce deeper bass with that power but are not good for high moisture areas like these Polk speakers. The Polk speakers have a brighter sound than the Sonos speakers because of the changes in the tweeter design.

How do I install these into concrete block walls? What should I insulate with to improve sound?
@crutchfield2 жыл бұрын
We do not install in-wall speakers into concrete block walls. A false wall should be built over the concrete block wall and these speakers would install into that false wall.
@frno10732 жыл бұрын
@@crutchfield can you give me some guidance on how that is done?
@crutchfield2 жыл бұрын
A hardware store is better equipped to help guide you through that process as well as get the materials to build the false wall. We can tell you that essentially you will be installing 2x4's onto to the Concrete block wall like you are building a new wall. Then you will need to install something like drywall onto those 2x4s. It is a good idea run your speaker wire before finishing the wall (installing the drywall).

Polk Audio RC85i - are they good for surround rear speakers along with RP-8000F klipsch?
@crutchfield2 жыл бұрын
Ideally, a Klipsch brand speaker would be used with those RP-8000F speakers so it they will match each other. The Klipsch R-3800-W II match those floor standing speakers and can be found here: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc227/p_714R3800W2/item.html

Hi, I have a question but i dont seem to be able to find a video in this anywhere. Firstly can a RC65i (same speaker i have as Left and Right channel) be used as my centre? As opposed to using and specific LCR Centre speaker Secondly, can my centre speaker work well if its above the TV?
@crutchfield3 жыл бұрын
Ideally you would want to us a speaker designed as a center channel, but you could get away with using a normal speaker, just make sure it is aligned vertically. It can be used right above the TV if necessary, but again is not ideal.

Hey is there much of a difference in the RC vs the MC Polk speakers?
@crutchfield2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Jared! The construction on these is a bit different, so the sound won't be quite the same. Would you be using these for music exclusively or in a home theater setup?
@jaredfound60042 жыл бұрын
@@crutchfield both but primarily for home theatre. I actually have both MC for the front speakers and ceiling speakers (still waiting on center and surround speakers) and the sound is amazing! So if the RC is supposed to be better don’t tell me haha

Would there be any benefit in getting the 8 inch dome speakers vs the 6.5 inch if one would be also purchasing a subwoofer?
@crutchfield4 жыл бұрын
I don't think there is any advantage if you will play them with a subwoofer. Technically, the 8" size is 1db more sensitive but you really need a 3db gain to hear the difference. I'd say go with the 6.5" size in this case

Home audio speakers are not designed for karaoke, or use with microphone or pro-audio gear. You would be better served getting a dedicated PA set up with PA speakers.

Are these speakers compatible with sonos amplifier?
@crutchfield4 жыл бұрын
The Sonos Amp delivers 125 watts RMS per channel, many of the Polk Audio RC model speakers for use in-wall, or in-ceiling, are not designed to accept quite that much power. If you have, or plan to purchase a Sonos Amp, and would like to take a look at speakers that would be best compatible, please get in touch! how do these compare with the MC80 ?
@crutchfield3 жыл бұрын
The MC80's have 8" woofers instead of 6 1/2" woofers like the RC60i. The MC80's will play louder and have more bass due to the larger woofer. The MC80 is also a bit more efficient at 92dB compared to the RC60i at 89dB. The MC80's features a silk dome tweeter meaning the higher frequencies will have a little smoother roll off.
