I have a pair of T15s arriving tomorrow, found a 1970's Panasonic receiver in my local thrift store for $25 CAD and these seemed like the best ultra budget option, super excited to work them in! I'm glad I watched your review. I just bought this set yesterday to replace the dinky satellite speakers that came with my Yamaha system. The first thing I noticed was the bright sound, but I also did notice punchy bass (for satellite speakers)! I ordered stands for them, because the stands for my old speakers won't work. I guess the marketing team assumed those would be way out of my budget LOL! Thanks for your review!

I'm glad I watched this before mounting. I was planning to mount them higher than normal and utilize the keyhole mount, so there wouldn't be any angle. I bought them yesterday, they're expected to arrive tomorrow. It'll be used with a Micca Origain, and a Polk PSW10. With regards to your sticker problem, I find WD40 and paper towels to be effective against sticker adhesive. Apply WD40 to the towel, and try to roll the glue into little scum balls as they soak the penetrant. Don't over soak, for easier cleanup and to protect the vinyl. You don't need a lot of pressure. Clean up with Isopropyl alcohol soaked paper towel or diluted soapy water soaked paper towel.

Sounds like you were on the right track with mounting them, I think you should totally do that, mount them up higher and utilize the keyhole, you don't need any angle on these. Thank's for the cleaning tip!!

These are actually awesome sleepers. They are horrid out of the box. They need a lot of help and tuning, but the bones are great. Big magnet in that woofer, butyl rubber surrounds, composite cone. The mods I did are as follows... I put some poly fiber fill inside the cavity to increase surface area and tighten the frequency response. I sealed the woofers to the box with rope caulk, stopping a lot of leakage. Next I cut a chunk of flexible packing foam into a circle and blocked off the ports. The ports are what really ruin the speaker, IMO. You don't need a sub, I get great frequency response after setting them up. Crisp tight and deep bass. Great mids and top end. Great speakers but only after major tweaking. The difference between stock and tuned are night and day, try it!
@NemoPropaganda3 жыл бұрын
thanks for the tip dude!
@OSXMan3 жыл бұрын
@@NemoPropaganda Do these mods asap, you wont believe your ears. The woofer's frame doesn't fit flush to the box and air just pours out. The rope caulk works great, less is more. Roll out a thin rope of it between your fingers a little at a time, stick it to the woofer frame and tighten it down. It's like the stuff was made for this purpose. Do this tweak after the poly fill trick. That's pillow stuffing available at craft outlets. It doesn't take much, you want it to still be airy, and don't want the poly fill getting into the speaker. We just want some fluff in there. There are many ways to block the ports. It's mandatory, IMO. The ports make it boomy, yet punchless and thin. Once you get it sealed up, it really sings. They'll sound like what their specs say they should, and more! Ports make boom, but place and time. Ports are great for single subs in large enclosures. The magnets in these Polks are heavy, as you know. But they're helpless with such poor air control, seal 'em up. The boxes are big enough that we're adding poly fill, they're big enough to resonate just fine, sealed up. The magnets are big. The woofers are big, and the box is pretty big. It should really punch, and it can, but it must be tweaked and tuned.

I have eight Polk T-15s wired to a Yamaha AS-301 Integrated Amplifier. I have wired two of the T-15s in parallel to the A and B speaker outputs. Since the impedance is 8 Ohms wiring in parrallel yeild 4 Ohms. I originally bought the eight becuse they were on sale for $49.00 a pair. My original idea was to set up a 5.1 system and use the Polk T-15s for the front, rear and center channels but I mainly listen to stereo 2 channel music. I stack 4 speakers on their sides to create the effect of a linear array. I also connect the LFE output of the Yamaha to a Polk PSW-10 subwoofer. I am pleased with the T-15s for my music. I cannot turn the amp up more than halfway and my typical listening volume is 1/4 to 1/3 of the way. Where I live there are no more stereo stores when one can go to look at stereo equipment and even listen to various speakers (best buy and Wallmart are the only options). I would like to up grade the T-15s one day but I tend to spend most of my Hi-fi money on buying CDs (I have over 1500 CDs and hundreds of vinyls and cassettes). I found that this system even does a good job on recordings that I have of local musicans who recorded two channel digital recordings right off theiir sound board. A good hifi system cannot improve music that is poorly recorded, mixed and mastered no does it degrade music where the recording, mixing and mastering is well done. A good HiFi accurately reproduces the music that has been recorded. I have another two T-15s with a Bestian subwoofer in my office connected to a Yamaha RS-202 Receiver/Integrated Amp and would consider the T-15s to be good entry level budget bookshelf 2-way speakers especially if you can get then on sale.

I'm in the process of upgrading the LCR and surround speakers in my 5.1 home theatre setup with 2 pairs of these Polk T15's and the Polk T30 as the center channel. This is a major upgrade for me because my current setup is the satellite speakers that came with my Sony receiver when I bought it brand new 20 years ago. So my question is, based on the unique performance of these Polk speakers, how would you recommend placing them for optimal performance in a HT setting?. As of right now my current setup has my speakers placed at all the right heights and angles according to the HT industry standard. Would it serve me well to follow those same guidelines for these Polk speakers?

I just wanna be 100% honest with you man, I don't know much about HT setup, I mostly focus on 2ch stereo and I don't really love these speakers. While they are very affordable I would recommend something like the Sony SSCS5 at its common sale price of $100 instead.

These are fine speakers for the money. In my experience they sound better than the much overhyped Fluance SX6 and for less money. Place them properly and they sound *very* nice. The bass is there in the right amounts for a small room. Power them with a good amp (A good clean 45 watts) and PLACE THEM correctly and they sound very balanced and even have some decent imaging. Near field listening (Desktop distance) isn't what these were designed for as the soundstage and dynamics improve greatly at medium distance in a smallish room (The exact scenario these were designed for in a Home Theater). Tangent: Polk is the Rodney Dangerfield of speakers. They get no respect by some in audiophile community but are an excellent option. Personally, I'd go up to the RTi series eventually. The RTi and especially LSim compare very well with the KEFs and Klipsches of the world.

I was going to buy these Polk T15's connected to my computer along with the Polk PSW108 sub using an FX AUDIO XL-2.1BL Bluetooth Amplifier and would be placing the bookshelf speakers on my desk at ear height or possibly mounting on the wall slightly higher. I know either way this will sound way better than my crappy insignia $50 setup from 2014 but wondering if the Micca or some other bookshelf speaker (under $100) would be a better fit at ear height? That amp is for passive subwoofers, you want something like the Douk Audio M1 Pro amp (sold on amazon for the same price) that has line level subwoofer output, that will work with the Polk PSW108. Now regarding speakers the T15 really is best for theater use. If you like guitar sounds more i think a speaker like the Dayton B652-Air would be the best especially at ear height. oh man that's an easy one, so IotaVX SA3 because of it's small size, remote control, built in dac so you can go optical out from your TV straight into the amp, and good sound. For speakers the Emotiva B1+ is going to sound great at those lower volumes as it's a touch on the brighter side, add in some $100 monolith speaker stands and you're at about $860. If you want a subwoofer you can add the $299 Emotiva SE8 but i don't use a sub in my bedroom personally. My bedroom setup changes often but right now it's the IotaVX SA3 paired with Silverline Minuet Supreme Plus speakers. Conversly the Emotiva TA-100 amp has all the same features as the SA3 and you'll save about $130 if you use that amp instead, it's just a little bit bigger but should sound just about as good in a bedroom setup. For more critical listening the IotaVX amp has more air and such but you may not notice that in a bedroom.

I'm mounting mine high at about 6.5 to 7 ft so it's perfect but still, why shoot yourself in the foot as a company for something so easily remedied. Great review.

I too was curious on why they didn't capitalize on this as a selling point. Everyone would have been happier :)

Well, keep researching...For example read about the wall behind the speaker and find out if that foam has any effect and why: www.mh-audio.nl/acoustics/CancellationFreq.html

It’s not foam, it’s high density... damn i can’t remember what it’s called, anyway. Huge difference in bass response, i went from a subwoofer being mandatory to optional. Room treatment can get crazy though, i don’t like the aesthetics of having too much so instead i’m okay with having an imperfect room, like most of my viewers :)

About the worst polk in existence. For 69.99 - 100.00 bucks I would go for the sscs5.
@NemoPropaganda3 жыл бұрын
yeah, but some guys can only afford stuff like this :(. Even worse in some countries it's even more expensive.

@@NemoPropaganda luckily, there are other better options for the same price. I mean anything will sound better than the t15. Polk screwed this one up badly.

Will the polk audio s15 have the same problem? Do s15 have to above or blow ear level?
@NemoPropaganda4 жыл бұрын
No, they are normal hifi speakers. Enjoy!

No, I don't like these T15, T30 combo. They are not so great as described by many. I compared it with ES10, ES15 combo. Better to invest in other speakers.
@NemoPropaganda25 күн бұрын
I don't know the current prices but this video is pretty old now and back when it was made the T15 could routinely be found for less than half the price of the ES15, matter of fact the ES line didn't exist when this video was made, it was the S15. IIRC this speaker was around $75 and the S15 was like $229 so yeah for sure the S15 was a lot better.

Acting like slightly moving the speakers up and down changes everything. I think we are talking 0.01% differences here.

Hi there buddy. I was wondering can have also a set of a old pair of B&W DM 602 Bookshelf speaker. I was wondering what integrated amplifier do you think would be a decent pairing with the speakers I was thinking of buying a second IOTAVX SA3 but I was considering a Yamaha I will also consider any other brand that you were recommend thank you very much for any advice and help you can give me on this
@NemoPropaganda4 жыл бұрын
Personally I'd buy something different if you already own one SA3, it just depends what you're going for. If it's for a desktop system and you don't need a remote the $230 Emotiva A100 would be great and save you some cash, if you'll need a remote though and you love the SA3 you can certainly grab another one. I guess it depends on if you like to play with gear or if you just want more of what you already have.

Nemo Propaganda Reviews That’s a good question I’m debating if it’s for a second room or in my basement I would really like to have a remote control but that’s just me being lazy LOL thank you so much for your input and advice man I always appreciate it and your time. ? I thought the Emotiva A100 was a headphone amp
@NemoPropaganda4 жыл бұрын
No it’s a regular integrated amp that can be used as a headphone amp when you remove the resistors :).

Nemo Propaganda Reviews very interesting I just saw your other video on the TA100 as well. Interesting I was thinking of a simple solution to use with a TV nothing too crazy just to enhance the sound I’m thinking of that as an option that was my choice for also using the the IOTAVX SA3. A separate question what you say the IOTAVX would be a netter choice over the TA 100. For TV and music together
@NemoPropaganda4 жыл бұрын
I use my TA100 for TV and its great but originally it was part of my music system. The two amplifiers difference in performance is about equivalent with their price difference so I think anybody should be happy with either one, the more expensive one is slightly better but it’s more expensive, the cheaper one is still really really good and you save about 120 bucks so it’s a really personal choice and you can’t go wrong either way.
