Polka Dot Patterns in Photoshop - one & two color dot patterns quickly & easily

Learn to create polka dot patterns in Photoshop
Polka dots are fun and colorful and polka dot patterns are easy to make in Photoshop. You will see how to turn one circle into a repeating polka dot pattern and how to scale the pattern to very big or very small as you add it to your document. You will also see how to add it as an editable layer so you can make the dots bigger or smaller any time.
You will also see how to make multi color polka dot pattern where the dots vary in color - this is a slightly more complex pattern but it's simple to create and use.

When I get to the part where I take the copy of the second layer and then filter>other>offset I fill in all the fields how you did but then nothing happens. Any ideas?

Check to see that you have the correct layer selected - if your layer doesn't have anything on it, it won't work. Also, make sure to enter values that are one half of the width and height of your document.

I don't think so. I checked a few posts and it seems that isn't something that Sketchbook Pro supports. You can, however, follow these same instructions in Photopea and get the same result. Go to photopea.com and check it out. I think you will like it as it is a free Photoshop clone - works pretty much the same as Photoshop in your browser. Let me know how you go?

Is there any reason why you choose the elliptical marquee tool and not the ellipse shape tool?

Not really Trang. Shapes are going to be rasterized to bitmaps when the pattern is saved so you can use either when you are designing the pattern. Should work fine either way.
