The main thing in the beginning is to make sure you are bending your knees. If your legs are too stiff and you lose balance or maybe hit an unexpected obstacle you are more likely to fall. With your knees at least somewhat bent you are able to save yourself way easier. Also keep your head and shoulders up looking forward, no looking straight down at your skates no matter how cool they look. Have fun skating everyone and I hope everyone just starting to learn sticks with it and enjoys their newfound hobby. These videos are so helpful.

question: how do you take off the stoper st the back of a roller blade, in been using them for ages and i’m ready to take them off but for the life of me i cat figure it out

You use an allen key that fits the wheel hex bolt, unscrew it fully and pop the back wheel and brake out. Then pop the wheel back in and screw it in place. A little bit of the screw will stick out but ultimately it’ll still be tight enough :)

Pushing off of toe stops is sometimes a good way to gain some speed from a stand still and learning where and how toe stops work but it's really easy to fall on your face if you do it too much especially at any speed

As an ice skater I would say it can’t be much different because you have forwards lemons in ice skating and there the same because they both glide apart from 1 you on ice and blades and 2 you or wheel

Omg thank you SO much! I got my roller skates today on 30th october 2023 after i got from school. I tried them on and started taking little steps but i wasnt gliding like i wanted to. I kept practicing moving like that and keeping my knees bend but i fell down 2 times in an hour😅 so then i watched some tutorials and yours was the first one i watched and i tried it out and it worked!! I'm not a pro like Polly here but I have done both and it also depends on where you'll be learning. If there is somewhere smooth with not too much debre and you've got pretty good balance then try blades. If you're skating rough stuff then skates are probably better. Find out if there is a local skating group and ask if you can join them one day and if anybody would be willing to let you try both. Either way, remember to learn how to fall safely! 😁

If you’ve done ice skating before I think it really helps with your balance on either. I’ve started out on roller blades and skates to a slight extent and blades aren’t really harder for me (except for standing up) because I’ve done ice skating. If you feel more inclined to roller blade don’t let the slight increase in difficulty stop you from picking it
